Default Engine almost complete....

Well if cares my motor is almost finished...recapping what happened I was drag racing a few weeks ago and ended up bending a rod, couple of pushrods and spun a rod bearing after a brief incident with the 7200 rev limiter. My motor is over at Advanced Automotive in Waldorf, Md. Here is what I ended up with:

Stock Block Bored .010
Diamond forged pistons -2cc coated skirts 3.905 - $569
Diamond Pro Select rings (.18/.22) - $170
Eagle Forged H Beam 6.125" rods - $469
Crank was turned .010
Comp Cams 232/238 .595/.605 111lsa - $399
Yella Terra Roller Rockers 1.7 - $470
Comp Cams 7.350 pushrods - $109
Total Engine Airflow S2 5.3 ~11.45:1 compression
ARP studs throughout
LS6 intake/ported TB

Special thanks to:

Thunder Racing (pushrods, flywheel)
- You guys kick a s s. When I was ready to kill everyone @ Racenet parts you guys came through! Thanks for the next day shipping and saving me some $$$$!

Raging Motorsports (yella terra's)
Mark, thanks for the help on the phone. I appreciate the fast shipping, the package arrived on friday when quoted on monday! Keep up the great work.

Total Engine Airflow (S2 heads)
Brent/Brian, Thanks for the awesome cylinder heads, I still can't get over going 134 on a 100 shot with the stock block. You guys have great customer service and thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Diamond Pistons (pistons and rings),
I am a little fustrated that we had the problem with the rings but all is well that ends well. I appreciate going the extra step to get the pistons coated quick and out a couple days early. Thanks Chris.

Racenet.net parts (Rods, headache's),
Well I guess I learned my lesson and let this be a lesson to everyone on the board. Your customer service falls short of what should be expected and your attention to detail rivals that of a child. My last two orders with your company have been terrible with missing parts and incorrect orders. I will never do business with you guys ever again and neither will any of my friends or fellow racers. You guys need to get your act straight.

Any final words of wisdom before I start installing the motor?
Phillip

Sonny,
I got the eagle rods from Racenet and let me tell you it was a fluster cuck. I would shop around or give my buddie over at carshop a call. PM if your looking for rods...

I bought a part from racenet on ebay. THEY SUCK! I HAD TO CALL THEM MANY TIMES, then finally told them I was contacting the law and the sent the parts after over a month.

The block was matched to the pistons...my machine shop guy said it would be roughly .010(cleanup)

Very informative post Phil, thanks for sharing. Now, when are you gonna get rid of that SVT in your name?

Thanks for supporting our sponsors!

Tony,
Hey I just can't seem to get rid of the SVT. I think the forum is great, I have purchased from almost every vendor on the board and very pleased with each and every one of them. The only problem is now I have like 4 head and cam packages sitting in my garage just because I wanted to see how each vendor supported their customers.

Well were to start on the cam, When I ordered the cam I wanted it ground on a 111.5 lsa and 110 icl. I calculated the overlap and 111.5 was the most I really wanted but had no choice after I saw the cam specs: 232 / 238 .595 / .605 111 lsa 111 icl. They said I could send it back but hey lets see what life is like above 7k. Should fire it up this weekend or the middle of next week if everything goes as planned. All of the parts are here, rods and pistons are all matched balanced. The crank is was getting turned today and will be balanced friday. Unfortunatly my busy work schedule makes it very tough to finish a motor but I love working overtime.

I am hoping for some big #s out of this combo. My old 230/230 .572 .572 114lsa put down 431rwhp and after I changed to my 230/230 110lsa the trap speed went up 2-3mph but never dynoed it. I am hoping for another large gain. The motor is loosing alittle compression but getting some better rings and lighter components.

I was running 11.75:1 before the new shortblock. My new pistons have some valve relief's which lower the compression just a tad. @ 11.75:1 I was fine on the street through one or 2 gears after that I got 1-2 degrees of timing retard. At MIR, I just add a splash of 111 and all is well. Once I get my car finished we(Bruce, you, myself and all the other local LS1tech/EFA guys) should head to MIR for a night at the drags.
Phillip

BTW my high octane timing tables are set at 29 degrees of timing on the top side.

good I get to kick Bruce's **** finally Any idea how much 110 you add? I may just stock up on a few gallons of that to mix with my gas when i feel cocky LMAO Hell my timing is 26-28 so 11:1 should be fine for me. If you have AIM page me at hdelano21

How much was the shortblock to build, all the machining and everything included I have been thinking about going this route but can't decide, want to be able to shoot 200+shot to say maybe a 300shot
