Just got my ported heads back. I have a question they are 853 castings and they have this notch like half a octagon at the edge of them. My 241's did not have this. I have these .030 custom cometic head gaskets that I want to run but the gaskets do not have this notch in them for the heads. Is it safe to run or am I going to have to get new gaskets. I took 2 pics 1 is with the gasket off so you can see the notch and the other is with the gasket on. Any info would be helpful please! Thanks!

I've successfully and am still using a set of ported 853 heads, what I've done is get the correct Cometic gaskets, mine are .040 and use the copper spray and so far they have not leaked.
Just make sure you get the correct gasket and make sure the head is milled, also clean the block really good with some acetone and green scotchbrite.
