if its the cam in your sig, thats an extremely small cam, i woudnt expect much more then 4 tenths.

if its not the cam in your sig then maybe you need a better tune?

and 6500 should be just fine

and btw pulling my air filter out gives me 1 to 2 tenths consistantly this isnt a driver error problem all of my runs are just about identical, within a tenth and my time listed was with a .661 rt...

it might not be all the cam's fault. Did you get the gears and converter to match that cam?

i would think it is the cam you have. its not exactly a high RPM cam. its not a whole lot bigger than stock. im sure it makes great off idle power and midrange but not so much peak power. 4 tenths is pretty good IMO

Get a converter and you'll drop to mid 12s with traction easy.

i wouldn't even expect 4 tenths from just a cam. thunder racing told me with a full bolt on car and adding their TR224 cam will only gain you about 1 tenth in the quarter mile (given you keep the stock converter in an A4). they said an aftermarket stall will drastically reduce your times.

Tiny cam, stock TC, stock gears. 4/10 isn't bad at all. A good TC and tires would have dropped more ET than that though. Your times aren't bad for a 1998 with your mods. Get a TC, don't sweat the gears yet.

You definitely need to get a converter. I had the same exact cam with a set of wcch 5.3 heads, vig converter and 3.73 gears and the car ran 12.2@112 at 5000 density altitude that converts to a 11.8@116 at sea level. I believe I did the math right.

IMHO four tenths with a cam change is pretty good. That is like picking up 40 horsepower.

yea really small cam no stall and u still gained 4 tenths..thats pretty impressive. And a 6500 shift points seem WAY to high for that small of a cam.

Maybe its becuase you suck and zippy needs to take it back down to 6 for the shifts, you should have gave me the left lane a couple more times maybe I could have gotten better then the 13.5 I got. I think we need to go to Martin next time.

4 tenths of a second for that cam is really good. You need to get supporting mods for that cam. Torque converter and headers are a must.

If I had an auto..I would've started with a cam /converter combo.
Contact www.converter.com .They have a form you can fill out to ensure you get the right converter..You need to be honest about how much time you spend on the street vice the strip..& if the car's a daily driver.
They are expensive, but they are worth it.You get what you pay for.
Your cam is on the small side, but its better than stock, with the right set up,you car can run mid 12's.
You need,
-Aftermarket lid
-LS6 intake
-LT headers(or mac mids)
-The y-pipe should incorporate some kind of Y-merge
-A good tune
-at the most..3.73's,but as long as you have 3.23's, it's not a top priority.
2.73's are a different story.
-Sub FrameConnectors,Rear Lower Control Arms(very important)
To all of you "small cam haters",
I picked up a 8/10th + second with an '01 LS6 cam & supporting mods.(12.7 @111,350 RWHP)
My car stock was a 13.6 @ 104 ish.(309 HP)
You can go fast with a smaller cam.
