Pulling engine, those in the know, how did you handle the AC compressor???

I have gotten the intake, heads, exhaust, water pump, radiator, rack & pinion unit, sway-bar, all off... I am removing the hood tomorrow and will be ready to start pulling the engine (out the top). I am not 100% on how I should handle the AC compressor...

Advice, Opinions welcome...

 

Leave everything hooked up and seperate the compressor from the engine.

I see two bolts on the AC compressor at the top. How many bolts on the bottom??? And how the heck do I get to them...

 

I think theres 2 on the bottom also. I had an air ratchet and a swivel socket. They are kinda hard to reach if I remember right.

 

Vette, right SideStep? 1 bolt 1 stud up top. 2 bolts on the bottom. The bottom ones arent bad from the bottom. The top stud, you need to loosen the nut, and then back the stud out. 7mm socket for that.
If we're talkin fbody, 4 bolts, not as hard as a vette.
As stated above, leave the ac hooked up, use a big wire tie to hold it up once you get the motor out.

 

i just got used some mechanics wire and ran it through a couple of places. the ac never got in the way.

Thanks to all for the advice... I was going to use "used" factory head bolts to anchor the chains to the short-block...sound like it will work???

Starting tomorrow...
