Default Factory Rev Limit

Have a early 1998 LS1 camaro engine in my replica cobra 427. The ECU was modified to remove the emmission controls which we do not require in the uk. The rev limiter is cutting in about 6600 which seems high for a stock engine can anyone tell me what the factory limit should be as i dont want to hurt the motor.

Hell no them 98 tachs are slow. You better put it back to stock. Cause if you spin a 98 too high your rod bearing is gonna fry. And I speak from personal experince. Short blocks are expensive. Now a question for you. How much does a replica car like your weigh with an LS1 in it? I'm real curious cause I've always wanted one.

Jimmymac,

Snap on the GD with an LS are you running the LS ECU or one of Andy's Omex units?

I only ask as I had to tweak the output of the LS ECU to drive the Smiths rev counter properly.
But more to the point....if you are running a '98 LS ECU and coming to Bruntingthorpe on the 8th then I could do the tweaks for you (I've got EFI Live and '98s are on a free licence )

Cheers

Jim

Hi James,

Drop a mail to Andy, looks like you've just dropped off the mailing list - They've got their "Open Day" on Sat Sept 8th at Bruntingthorpe - which means many hours of howling round the track .

I've gone for EFI Live (deceision based on gut feel after visiting both camps and listening to the (naturally) very biased feedback of each!. You can download EFI Live and play with it before you buy the hardware if you fancy.

Regards

Jim
