Default How much noise?...

I have noticed plenty of noise out of these LS1 motors as far as slap, and valvetrain clatter sounds, even some really low mile cars I gave a test drive to seemed to have some clatter even once warm....where does yours fall?...(Loud exhaust guys keep in mind its harder to hear)...

Mine just seems to clatter and rattle and softly knock here or there at random...there isnt really a constant tick tick tick or knock knock knock....its hard to explain. I guess its just normal,,

Mine sounds like an army of midgets with hammers and frying pans is under the hood. I got a pretty extreme knock from down low I'm just waiting on my ticket to the SBC. It almost went away completely when I upped my oil weight but came right back after 2 weeks.

Actually I just patched a hole in teh muffler.... maybe that was it. But in all seriousness, I can't stand to be close to my car before it warms up, I just start it and walk away for 20 minutes.

As a new LS1 owner, I don't find it any louder than other vehicles I've had. My 2004 Hemi truck ticked and my 2004 F150 5.4 ticked. Maybe I'm used to it, but it doesn't bug me.

Well, Its not that it bothers me that it makes noise so much as not knowing what it is. For example, back when I had a couple of 3/S cars they had really bad lifter tick when cold, but I knew that sound. The LS1 is like a grab-bag of noises, some ticks, pops, rattles, clicks, bangs, etc that all happen at once and it scares the **** out of me because I can't say "hey this noise is such and such".

my car ..silent as a lamb (well a lamb with a terrifying exhaust) when it was just Lt's, ory, catback....then i decided to put a cam in it...and now it sounds like im running a sweatshop in my engine bay. Especially if the windows are up, and the radio is quiet...trying to have a romantic conversation with some skeeze..really ruins the moment

Mine sounded nice and quiet before the cam swap. The patriot dual springs changed that, but its not too loud and not too obnoxious other than that.
