Default Tr 230/224 Vs Tr 236/230

Ok so their both reverse split cams.. Is the 236/230 going to produce more power than the 230/224.. i would assume so but im not sure. Anyone have any #'s on the 236/230, i havnt heard much about it. Im guessing the 236/230 is a bigger version of the 230/224???

I have the split pattern 230/236 so might not be much help but I like that cam so far. Idles pretty nicely, good power around town (drives about like stock) and pulls up to 6800rev limit.

Just another option.

I actually have this cam. My #'s arent the highest but I do have 4.10's and 12 bolt rear. It has a really nice top end powerband. As soon as you hit about 4.5k It just opens up. Bottom end I think is kind of sluggish but up top it feels great. I am also spraying a 200 shot on top and my god it feels great then. If you have any questions or want me to post the dyno sheet let me know.

I have a similar cam (CompR custom ground 236/230 .601/.591 114+2LSA) in my car that has a similar powerband(not until 4.5K do you feel any pull). Its actually slower then w/o the H/C until 4500RPM when it starts picking up.

The shop that did my install installed the cam a total of -4degrees(Don't know why, I'm kinda upset about it). How much do you think (after P to V clearance is determined) it would benefit me to install the cam straight up or even +2. This H/C setup made 450/404 in another car at -2degrees on the cam. Mine only makes 428/379. I like the cam, although I hate not having any power on a stock bottom end till 4500 to 7000. Different cam, or will advancing the cam make a noticible difference in the offset of the power band, for more low/midrange?.

Yup. ive read his post. Amazing #'s for an auto.... cam only!!

I'll prolly end up goin with the tr230. It seems that cam runs really good on stock heads and pulls hard even in the low rpm's. thats exactly what im lookn for. Hopefully ill have some #'s up for y'all in a month or so. Thanks for the help guys!

Thanks!!

It's a great cam with stock heads and if you want to do cam only. It CAN perform very well with ported heads, but if you are going to go through all that effort you could probably get a custom ground cam to match your heads and make that much more.

Just be sure to get the proper supporting parts with it and get a GOOD tuner!
