Default help me pick a cam for my setup

i need a cam to go with my setup...im getting some tea stage 2 5.3 heads that have been milled .015 (59 or 60cc i believe) and i plan on running them with cometic head gaskets (i already know i will probably have to flycut). My other mods include all the other usual boltons except an ud pulley and ewp. My car also has true duals and an ls6 intake for now but i plan on eventually swapping that out for a ported fast 90/90 setup. As for the cam i want to stay very streetable so i want a cam in the high 220 to low 230 range. So what do you guys think would be the best cam for my setup??

you have nice set of heads so why goin for smaller cams???

man you can still get the streetable manners with bigger cams than that?

like why goin for G5X1 while you can get G5X3 and get the best from your heads?

and you have an M6 so get a tighter LSA like 112 .

you dont need a big cam to run good times..look at what most people are running with cams in this range with tea heads, they are running just as fast as the big cam cars and are much more streetable...bigger isn't always better

i know bigger its not always better .

but you need to mach your heads setup ,the smaller cams will run verey well plus you have an M6.
so going for more slightly bigger cams would get you there easly . think about it

I don't believe the g5x3 will fit safely. I would talk to patrick G for a custom cam. Best way to go.

Maybe he doesn't want to spin his 98 rod bolts to 7000 rpm to make peak power?

exactly..plus all the cams i have listed work very well with tea heads, the tea heads seem to like cams with only a small split in the durations

I agree with this gent that contacting Patrick or someone with like skills would be the best route. As far as inpu from the rest of us armchair cam gurus I offer this - Do a little research and see what kind of experience others have posted with various cams using a similar head, intake, tranny and gear combo. Then pick an RPM range that you would like to stay within. Those two issue should help you pick an off the shelf grind that will get you close or maybe even right on spot to where you want to be. Allot of it will depend on what you want from the cam meaning more low end grunt or high end pull. There are off the shelf grinds that are a compromise of the two and have a hard mid range pull. A custom cam is often a bullseye when selecting a cam grind but as I previously stated there are enough off the shelf cam grind out there that you may find what you are looking for there. You just have to decide what that is.

Personally I use a camshaft that is 221@.050 with a TEA 5.3 head but I have an A4 tranny and like the low and midrange power it offers. I hope this rambling helps.

The G5X1 has had a great history of being a performer, considering you are looking for an off the shelf cam in that randge, it would be hard to beat,
