AFR's are smog legal... i've heard a 224/224 cam will pass with a good tune... so if you got those two then you should be fine...

Yes. Patrick G put some AFRs on with a TR CheaTR cam and made good power with stock manifolds. A 224/224 is the wrong cam for stock manifolds, but with the right cam, you can make good power and pass visual and sniffer testing. Something like a 218/232 115 113 (XFI/Xer) would have great drivability and a nice top end with a 11:1 CR (63cc & .040 gasket) and pass the sniffer with a good tune.

Hey Tony,

Any probs with a 224/228 in a stock head car? Also in a 112 LSA? I looked on the AFR sight but do not see any info on cams. Any benefit from that cam over a straigh TR224?

there are many places that will over look visual, all they worry about is what passes on the sniffer test. i know the places ive been to have over looked visual and said all they care about is what comes out on the comuter, if it passes. thats it. find a shop that will over look visual, get some lt's and the tr224 cam on a 114lsa has been proven to pass cali sniffer. not sure about tony's cam but its not that much more aggressive than the tr224 so i dont see it having any issues passing. there have even been cases of tr224 on a 112 lsa w/o tune passing smog. but thats rare. just a matter of over looking visual and how good the tuner is i guess.
