I havent gotten my car finished yet, so i couldnt really tell you what mine drives like, but im sure its not gonna drive like stock anymore lol. I've ridden in a 6 speed car with 3.42's with a cam very similiar to this on stock heads, and it felt like a dog up till about 3500rpm, when it went over 3500 it felt almost like it had a turbo on it, this cam comes on very strong and pulls all the way up to at least 6800rpm.

I solved a lot of the issues that I would have with driveability and valvetrain wear and tear... by deciding to get a set of Absolute Stage 2 heads!!

I am most likely going to do this with a cam... probably the 230/238... what do you guys think.

Thanks a lot for all of the feedback guys... you guys are awesome, and have made the dicision making process a lot easier!!

What other big cams could I do with Absolute Speed stage 2 heads to get 420+ rwhp (420 meaning atleast).

Would I have any problems like PVC, or any other valvetrain or engine problems with a set of 5.3's from Absolute.. not because of their heads but because of this cam.

How will the low end be and the midrange with heads on this 230/238 cam?

Thanks!!!

Mike

What heads should make more and "better" power with this 230/238 or something big like it... Absolute Speed stage 2 5.3's or TEA stage 2 5.3's?

They are about the same price and they are both in the range that I am looking for. What valves are better, Manley or Ferrea?

Hmm, a G5X2 minus two degrees of duration...

I am not a big fan of standard splits.

I don't think high lift (above 580 something) is responsible for the numbers people are seeing out of heads and cam cars and just cam cars but valve timing events themselef are the reasons for larger numbers. My cam is only 224 at 50 but with an icl of 106 and lsa of 110lsa it made 405/406 rwhp/rwtq corrected and 415/417 uncorrected. Have comp grind the cam with the duration you specified with lift in the 580ish range and a narrower lsa (like 110 or below) and an icl of 106 or so and see what happens.

Bingo .....Daily Aluminum Block wins the cookie. See the sig....baby cams do make power w/out sacrificing the valvetrain to the ramp/lift Gods.

Also agree w/Cal........

Good luck!

thats a big cam. the valves probabaly will hit pistons.
Also 4.56 gears is the smallest gears to use a 488 closer if you have a 12 bolt. also u must change pushrods and valve springs and lt headers and the most important mod your computer, ed wright at fast chip. headwork also will make a big difference with that cam, i have a cam almost the same size email me if you have questions nosman@attbi.com

I have longtubes (Hooker). The cam is going in with stage 2 heads from Absolute... so I do not think that I will have any PVC problems..

They will be unmilled (I think) 5.3's w/ dual 987's Titanium Retainers, and Manley pushrods.

I think that 4.10's will do the trick.. and if not.. oh well, it is not a strip car anyway... it will be ok on the low end with 4.10's.

With an M6, your first gear ratio is 2.66; that's pretty high. That means with 4.11's like I have, the car just feels normal like that's what it should have had just with the stock cam. With that cam I'd get 4.56's, you'll have more fun and there is no real sacrifice in doing so.
