Default 231/237 pistons and valve contact

Well I was just wondering if anyone has had any problems with any valve contact with the pistons with the 231/237 TSP cam. I didnt know what really had happened to my car but I just took the heads off and can see some contact on the pistons. I have patriot 243 heads with the dual springs setup. I spun the motor over by hand and had no problems and the car drove great for a few hundered miles. Then it just happened. It was fine with the stock heads but happened after I installed the new 243 heads. Any ideas on what in my setup might have caused this or is it just too big of a cam? Any help thanks I am going to rebuild the motor anyways I have forged rods and pistons so it can handle a little bigger shot anyways.

any help guys I had the stock length push rods and stock rocker arms from a 99 ls1 camaro I dont know if that made a difference but I was wondering what happened

Do the new heads have bigger valves?

They dont hit on stock heads.

how many miles on the springs ? i would have thought that setup would clear but since you are rebuilding anyways i'm sure your aftermarket pistons have valve reliefs that will have room to spare.

well I think I jumped time now that I am taking everything apart so I am guessing that might be the problem

i have the speed inc SI5 231/237 cam installed with stock heads.

I did not have to worry about PTV clearance when I did the install, everything is fine!

I have well over 30K miles on my 231/237 cam with no problems. If there was going to be clearance problems, it wouldn't have taken a while for it to happen, it would have happened the moment you turned the engine over. Like already mentioned, it must be a bad spring(s) or you did jump timing.

well I took the motor apart and spun some main bearings so that was the problem lol. But its back together with a few more parts installed but thanks for the help
