Reverse Split Benefits..

They are good with combos not wanting to spend on 90/90 intakes
The higher duration on intake acts like a crutch on sucking more air in and the Valve Events tend to produce awsome midrange trq.
Good exhaust is a plus.

I am pleased with my MTI X1 230/227 .591 .571 112 on stock heads.

I would say on a reverse split is more for turbos, and nitrous applications. But like predator said the reverse split have a better mid range.
I would like to think they are not as daily driver friendly as a traditionally split cam.
Ultimately its up to you, and what you want to do with the car. Some people go through several cams untill they come up with a certain grind thats BEST for them.
Im sure Predator, or Patrick G. can find you a cam for your needs.

The basic way to look at it is what needs more of a "crutch"? With a fast 90/90 and a not so great exhaust system, you need a traditional split. Do you have a LS6 intake and a great exhaust system, then maybe a reverse split will fit the bill better. This is just a very basic way to look at it, of course of there is more to it with valve events, etc.

I think that reverse split is good for cars with stock heads. That would be the reason for more intake duration. If you have excellent flowing heads ie AFR, TFS, ETP, ect then a single split or tradtional split would be better. I would go with a tradtional split for a Nitrous set up because of the extra timing needed so you could get rid of the exhaust and to reduce any pumping lose.

Many road race engines use reverse splits to get a lot more mid range torque vs high end HP.
Getting up and out of corners UP to speed 3000 to redline happens 6, 10, 15 times every one minute 30 to 2 mins for 20 to 60 mins races.
This is where that mid level tq is needed

eek!
Lol, my mistake. You WOULD need a higher exhaust duration for a turbo....my mistake.
Thanks for the correction, been offshore for 90 days straight my minds a little ...
Way to be on the ball!

all theories , huh ? would a 230 degrees intake duration suck more mixture because it has a 227 degrees exhaust duration ?
i dont think it would "suck" because of this variation . 2 different cycles.
intake valve open ---> mixture in ---> booom! ---> power ---> exhaust valve open .

There is lift to consider as well.
For exemple a Stealth Cam for my 370 cid with ported 5.3L, 12:1 SCR
224/222 .609/.581 117LSA
That is so much trq I'm gonna think it is a 408

It is not from .050 specs that you tell the hole story of a cam, it depends on which lobe is used, which durations, which LSA and ICL and which lifts.
The small reverse going in my 370 can do just that. Rev till 6800+ and use the events for proper nitrous benefits.
