I think I would snap if that happened. Than again if it does, i can use my motto "go all out or go home"....lol

I figured that was what you were getting at ...I will probably be heading in that direction.

from the start, reading all the way through this, I def. agree with the point predator brought up.

might want to test them and make SURE your inj. didnt lock up and cause that cyl. to go lean. these hyper. pistons are very brittle. as in they shatter into a million pieces when they let go instead of just crack or break.
I am running 38lb. injectors from a supercharged Grand Prix GTP. I will test the injectors at some point to see.

I forgot to write that I will be updating this thread with pictures throughout the whole tear down and rebuild if anyone is interested. As I said before though, I think the project unfortunately will take around 8 months.

who knows, but if your stock short block was making 450RWHP then hell yeah it could. but it would have to be WOT Id think to make that kind of combustion temps/pressures to cause this.

my main reason for wondering is I dont see inj.s in his mod list, but Id guess that if he has the kinda money it took to buy all the mods he DID list, then he prolly also has inj.s. I know at 427RHWP my buddy was near maxing his stock inj.s. thats mustang dyno#s though. and I know my dads car (in my sig) that I put together is not too far from the edge of the safe side.

my piston did the exact same thing. best part is.... no signs of the piston melting it just shattered. took out my entire longblock in the process. life goes on and my new block is on the slow boat over right now.

What kind of setup did you decide to go with?

It doesn't have to take that long. It's all about what you want to do and budget.

Like Jason said, he's got 2 months and 3k in his and his car runs ALOT better than it did. It would have been less time than that if parts weren't on back order... LOL.

Now im sacred to drive it.....lol

My motor has been ran hard by two guys and countless bottles(the other guy ran it with a 100shot in stock form im the second owner)...THAN it went under the knife for a big cam swap and i replaced some stuff while i was in there but everything seemed to realy clean(i got the car at 45k and swaped the cam at 55k and now its got 75k and im spraying a 125 shot on top of it)...SEEMS THAT the harder you beat on it from day one the longer it lasts lol...

I'm at 8 months and about $10K. The only thing I was able to reuse are the front and rear engine covers, the valley cover, valvesprings, and the lifter trays. Everything else was damaged or destroyed. I just fired the car up this past weekend and it sounds good . All I need is for my exhaust parts to come in to get back on the road and start the break in.

Another appropriate saying would be..."you have to pay to play"

Or how about..."speed costs money, how fast do you want to go"

I could keep going, but I won't.

I think the "Pay to Play" somes it up...

I too have been in your shoes.. Ended up taking my car to where "Money buys Speed" @ LGM.. My car has never ran better...

Here is what mine did prior to that.. Mine was a H/C car @ the time.. Mine was definately "detonation".. I am thinking yours was the same..

The block is not a total loss, you can always do something like this..

Don't worry, I am not going to get rid of it. I will do something like that with it. Gotta look at the positives right?
