What would you suggest for a 427 CID with LS6 heads?

Mike-
Which cam would you suggest for a forged 6.0, stage II 6.0 heads and a single turbo running 15lbs of boost?

Mike,
I have the older MMS 224 114LSA cam from last year. Do you think I should try your newer 224 cam? I also have your MMS stage II heads, they are of older design from you.

That 218/228 115LSA cam sounds sweet for my ATI setup

Mike,
How much more power could I make with that cam over my 216/220 cam?
I'd guess about 20-25 RWHP. I'm assuming the 216/220 is the comp low lift lobes. Also with the 218/228 you can probably run another lb of boost with the same timing map.

Mike, I will be changing my 98 heads to the ls6 heads with all the new valve covers and stuff. Heads will be cnc ported and cleaned up a bit by hand and have the stock valves. Will the 224 cam/570 lift be good enough? Is it too much, too little or can you recommend one for me?

I use my car for patrol and do alot of stop and go, with the occasional chase here or there. I plan on changing my torque converter to a 3200 or 3500 plus change to 3.73 gears and ls6 intake manifold. If you look at my sig, you can see what I am running now. I do want drivability, but also want the lope so I guess the 114 would be good enough.
The 224 114 is definitely the best all around cam. I also have a 228/228 .558/.558 114LSA that I can custom grind if you want to get a little more aggressive. I'd like to see about a 3800 stall with that cam though.

mike, what do you say about that 233 cam with stock internals, qtp's, and some ported 5.3 heads.
That's what we are getting together for Terry Burger. We're hoping to get him another 10-15 RWHP over his old combo, we'll see.

I am interested, I have a new 348 Forged 9.1-1 LS6 block being finished as we speak. I also have a set of ported and polished 6.0 heads that are headed back my way now. This is going together for my ATI kit that I will be running 15psi on. Will this cam be a good choice for my new motor: MMS StgIIB Aggressor 224/233 .570/.578 115LSA
If so, you will have an order for one.
Thanks,
J
Hmm, we'll it sounds like you are getting pretty aggressive with the setup. My experience with s/c'd apps is that with more boost you'll peak sooner. You'll want to increase the cam duration to get the rpm range back up. Also with more duration you can run more boost for the same timing curve.
The Stage IIb cam will be nice all around, but the Stage IIIb cam would probably work well if you want a serious 15lbs of boost. The other consideration is maximum impeller speed and at what engine RPM that occurs.

What's why i'm interested in the 115lsa cams as well. It will bleed off less boost which should definately make more power. Plus the 218/228 has more lift and duration then my current cam. So if that cam makes at least 12rwhp to 15rwhp more than my current cam, i'm definately getting one
On a blower app it will progressively be stronger with the Stg Ib cam with the more boost you run. I'd say with 7psi you will see 20-25 RWHP over your current cam

No not yet. We don't have a lobe profile finished yet. I do have a 228/228 .558/.558 I can custom grind. That lobe was mainly for our blower cams, but would work well as a single pattern with LS1 heads. LS6 heads could use more lift on the cam.

What would you suggest for a 427 CID with LS6 heads?
That will depend on several factors. If you have a good exhaust and want a mild setup that makes peak power by 6000rpm then use our Aggressor 233 cam. You could also use our StgIIIb cam to pick up a bit on the topend, but it would have a bit more lope to it.

Through the week possibly into next week. We've had a lot of response and have started another batch of cams.

Mike-
Which cam would you suggest for a forged 6.0, stage II 6.0 heads and a single turbo running 15lbs of boost?
Hmm, well a reverse split is good for a turbo setup. I'd say a custom grind 233/228 .578/.558 would be the way to go. I would run a 116 or 117 LSA
