Default lifter tray question...urgent!

putting my motor back together right now...is there a specific place for each lifter tray in the block - I noticed they are numbered underneath. also, what do I torque the bolts to in each one. I looked on ls1howto, but I can't seem to find that spec. maybe I'm just overlooking it

I couldn't acertain any difference in the trays themselves, but I also can't see why they'd go to the trouble of numbering them either.

well dont put the lifters in sideways!!! youll have all kinds of problems. as far as torquing the trays just hand snug is fine

flat part of the lifter on the flat part of the tray, right? just checking. Maybe I am overthinking, but I just can't afford to mess anything up.

You can't really screw this up. The lifter can only go in one way. Just don't overtighten the bolt. That's a small bolt so don't over do it. Maybe a drop or locktite because if you've done this job correctly you won't see those bolts again for a very long time.

HA, Don't mean to laugh at you but you are definatley over thinking this one. While you are over thinking, look at it this way. Picture the way your cam sits in your block. Now picture the direction the lifters would have to sit to role on the cam lobes. That is exactly how your trays will hold the lifters in place. Maybe pictureing how it works will put you at ease.

I think the numbers on the bottom are the cavity numbers of the molds. They are all interchangable.

Just don't torque them down too much...or you'll be putting a heli coil in there like I did... They are very sensitive threads.
