Default Question about degreeing a cam..

I have installed a T-rex V.2 in my 99 TA, it has a forged 347 with diamond -2cc pistons. When we put it we advanced the cam by 3 degrees.. the ICL on the cam card is a 107, the LSA is 110. The heads are a 59 cc head, im so worried about ptv clearence but what i am worried about is making sure the cam is optimized for max performance.. So the question is should i have installed the cam strait up or going by the ICL and the LSA did i install right? Thx in advance, Jesse

the head gaskets are fel-pro stock replacements.. and im really not worried about the ptv clearence because of the dish relief in the pistons.. I just wanna make sure that i advancing the t-rex 3 degrees wasnt the wrong thing to do.. thx for the respounce

ok did you look at the cam card was there any advance in the cam already? like 110+4 or so? if there is i think more +3 is too much because the final caculate will be +7. but if your cam came with 0 advance from there the+3 is good start to go.but i think most of the late cams came already with +2 to +4 advance so you have to be carefull. i hope this will help thnx

Thx man.. see thats what i thought about it..i will have to take a look at the cam card again to make sure, but the ICL was 107 and the LSA was a 110 so that would call for a +3, im just starting to worry about it a lil..

If the cam card says 110 LSA and 107 ICL that means it is already advanced 3*
If you added another 3* on it you have now a 110 LSA and 104 ICL.

While a cam should be able to handle a +6 advance, this makes it very exhaust biased and very peaky taking away from the actual powerband designed for this cam, it will also reduce ptv on intake, and since your heads are milled and with bigger valves, I would measure ptv. 2cc relief is only about .080 deep
