Default PRC Stg 2.5 5.3L or Dart 205's

I have narrowed my choices to these 2 heads. Cam will be a TSP 233/239 v2 on a 112lsa w full boltons. These are the only 2 I am interested in. For the price of AFR's etc... i can get a ported Fast 90/90 setup as well. Not looking to spend a ton on this car as I just talked myself into keeping her after almost selling for an 03 Cobra. I am more concerned with the low tq #'s I see with the PRC's which is why I am considering the Darts. They seem to make more tq and have a broader curve.

Does anyone have anymore info on the Dart's or preferably first hand experience with them? I found very few people with them while searching but was impressed with the results. The PRC's flow extremely well according to TSP but they are severely lacking in Trq production.

I have them and will be removing them this winter. They are nice budget heads and they have served me well. The ports are narrow though, so the match to a ported FAST may not net you the results you seek. You may be better off with a ported TB and LS6 intake if you select the Darts. Darts have good valves, PSI nitrided valve springs and machined locks.

i have the darts and its good all over heads but if you want my advise do a hand porting to them and you will get one of the most powerful heads on the market. but out of the box its good but not as good as AFR or so . or you can call TSP and they will give you heads/cam matching your needs .

Do you have any dyno proof of the 205s making more torque than the PRC 5.3l heads? I'd be very interested in seeing these results.

The PRC Heads:
Cost Less
Feature Double Springs
Fully CNC Ported
Flow 25+cfm More
Have Tons of Great Dyno Results in the dyno section

Checkout the dyno section for recent results from PRC 5.3l heads. I think you'll find dozens of PRC results well past the 450rwhp mark! MTI just finished a car making over 465rwhp with PRC Stg 2.5s!!

Most of the results I see make very good peak numbers but are lacking in Tq and overall power under the curve. I am not bashing one head or the other just going by a 3 day search I did. Most of the PRC headed cars struggled to make 400-410 trq on independent dynos. I saw Futral do few Dart headed cars on F13 size cams and put up over 420rwtq. Once again only going by what I found searching as peak numbers and flow arent everything to me and my street car.

I am not ruling out the PRC's as you see by the title of my thread. Just lookiong for others with experience with the Darts **** I do have a TSP cam so that has to account for something.

yeah i just did a similar search.

and alot of cars i see running the PRCs and similar cams to mine are 390-400rw torque numbers.

heck i made 375rw torque with several gremliins in the engine. i'm sure i'm in the 380s now...cam only. would suck to only gain 10-15# of torque.

Another vote for the Darts. I have been very pleased with these heads since they were installed. I have now out grown them with my stroker setup so I will be stepping up to something bigger. They are a great out of the box budget head that gets good results.

I wouldnt say the PRC 5.3's lack torque production , its usually the cam others choose . Look at this fellas results . Also his track times corrected are a low 11 @ 125mph N/A. Damn intake isnt even ported , some gains there to be had .

Yeah I have noticed most of the results posted that I see are with smaller cam than I will be using IE 228 and Torquer v2, v3 type cams so that explains the low torque numbers I was seeing. I will be using TSP's 233/239r2 on a 112lsa which is in my closet ready to go. I am leaning towards the stage 2.5 5.3's to be honest as I will be stepping up to atleast a 383 next year and don't want to limit myself with the Darts.

Also if anyone knows, what gasket will give me the most compression w/o having to flycut with these heads and the above mentioned cam. Thanks in advance.

i agree the tq usuall seems low with the 5.3's and the ls6 ported heads, but the peak # is usually pretty high.

I did 434 rwhp and 407 rwt with the TSP 5.3 in an A4(TCI 3500,3:23gears)...Now with a 5c converter(4400stall) and 3:73 gears added I now put down 426rwhp and 400 plus rwt..This is all in an A4
