Default Smallest cam to reach 400 rwhp?

Just like the title says. What is the smallest cam you can run in a 346/347 and reach 400 rwhp?

Heads would be P/P LS6 with either a LS6 or FAST intake. Exhaust would consist of 1 3/4 Lt's and TD's.

Since it wold be a small cam would you have to rev it high to achieve 400 or can it be done with out rev'n it up to high?

I am right on the edge with my little Vinci cam, VHP_056, specs are 216.224 0.551/0.551 115 LSA and Dart as cast heads.

I make 405 with Livernois LS6 Stage 2 with an LS6 intake and a TS 224R 114 cam. I shift at 6500 rpm.

you should be able to do it with a 222 or a 224 cam. i've seen quite a few people in the 390rwhp range with just a 224/224 114 cam only.

I have seen a few, but how hard would it be to pull 400 out of a sub 220 cam?

Stock cam has hit 400 RWHP before, with many exotic boltons...

With port and polished LS6 heads, itll be tough to find a cam that wont make that power, as long as its a good setup (compression / quench )

There are quite a few on here with a 224 or so cam making 400rwhp, they are a very underated cam. For the street I wouldn't go much bigger than this.

the fast intake will help if you wound up getting one but something like a 220/224 on xer lobes and get your dcr up in the 8.5-8.7 range and you should clear 400 with just an ls6 intake imo.

Forgot to mention, mine hits its peak at 5,900 RPM so I haven't changed my rev limiter.

if u did 338 stock then its very possible to do 400 with a mid 220's cam and all the bolt-ons and one badass tune.

I was actually looking at the TSP 220/220 .581/.581 116.

Any thoughts on this cam ?

long tubes and an ory with a merge collector for the Y or 3" true duals dumped, ported fast 90 or ls6 probably and ported TB to match it, top end kit of some sort maybe(rockers, retainers and springs)EWP, crank pulley, lightweight wheels. Exotic bolt-ons is a funny term and making 400 rwhp on a stock motor with just bolts-ons is like impossible. Rod bolts arent bolts ons. Unless your using a power add like n2o I dont see it being done unless it's all on paper and your using a generous dyno to prove it.

Cam only or just do bolt ons and be happy but you'll still need the bolt-ons to support the cam

ok i see what your saying... i guess it is possible to get close to 400whp. Just easier and cheaper to do with a cam...plus she just wants the lopey sound like my car. lol

With my current 218/218 cam on my '99 SS I pulled 400.3 RWHp at 6200 RPM. The car was a head/cam/intake/exhaust/gear/tuned car, stock displacement. Of course, I went and blew it up.

I'll be shooting for 400 with my 216/216 .581/.581 cam with ported LS6 heads and a stock LS6 intake through longtubes and true dual 2.5" exhaust. DCR will be in the 8.6 to 8.7 range.

My old set-up with a TR220, AFR 205s (64cc), and the usual bolt-ons (with stock TB) hit 400 rwhp.

I hit 404 rwhp on my orig. LS1 w/ stage II heads, 224/228/114 cam thru a Moser 12 bolt.

Now I am dropping in an LS6 w/ ported LS6 heads, same cam, Pulley, same rear.
We'll see where that ends up.
