Default To forge/turbo, or go big cubes

My car just turned 100k miles Its a bolt on car, and she runs great. Im thinking about doing a project as shell become just a summer car for this summer. I'm looking at either doing a 408, or going with the forge/turbo combo on the current motor in the car. My goal is 550 RWHP reliably. Im looking at a budget of about 7grand for the motor or motor/turbo. Fuel system/rear end/etc arent included. All inputs and suggestions are welcome

For $7k, go NA. A 100k motor will likely need a rebuild in short order if it is boosted to 550, and $7k won't cover a new motor plus FI.

Turbo, you could do it if you do all the work yourself and dont go crazy with the motor. It will be close to your limit on cash though.

forged 427 turbo is way out of his budget

Dude, just do what you really want to do, even if it goes against your budget..

I'm not saying live beyond your means, but if your desired setup will actually cost $12k instead of $8k, then spread your project out over a longer range of time. After all, you have a perfectly good running motor now, so time is not too much of a factor, is it?

If you take this advice then you will stop asking about what to do, but rather, when to do it. You already know what you want to do dont you?

With that budget (which I wish I had) I would definitely stay NA. Turbo (or any Forced Induction) is quite expensive to do properly.
