Default Friend just picked up an 04 GTO...

Went from a Honda to a GTO So now I'm looking to give him some advice and being an LT1 guy myself I dunno what to tell him. It already has a KN CAI, Longtubes, and true duals with an x pipe. I found that out after a quick peak underneath it last night when I got to see it for the first time. The dealership told him it was stock hah! Any way I can tell what brand exhaust it has for him?

It's backfiring a bit on decell, no SES, I assume it's from the exhaust and intake eh? a mailorder tune should fix that...

What are some good bolt ons for his car I should tell him about? The first thing I recomended was a Pro 5.0 shifter. IDK what else to tell him, any helps appreciated.

They all backfire on decel.

Here's the shifter to get:

Linky
GMM Ripshifter - Race Version
The JHP GMM Ripshifter Race version is great for those that do drag or track work along with daily driving. It has a very solid feel with tight shifting. The JHP GMM Ripshifter has perfected the 3rd gear shift. Rip through the gears as fast as you can. Slamming them as hard as you like.

The JHP GMM Ripshifter (Race version) uses your stock shifter **** and boot.

Race Version: $309 USD shipped.

Best mod for my car by far, the stock shifter is like a wet noodle.

You get what you pay for, the Pro 5.0 and B&M shifters are crap for the T56.

The popping in the exhaust is the DFCO (dynamic fuel cut off) and is normal. It can be tuned out or adjusted.

The GTO is NOT cheap to mod due to a low volume (about 100,000 cars total)
All shifters are about $300 (gmm, billet and Hurst are all good)
The B&M has had issues with bolts backing out and parts breaking.

Tell your buddy to visit LS1gto.com for mod info.

I guess crap is subjective. I have a Pro5.0 on my T56 and love it.

Whatever... I've driven the 5.0 and like it and LOVE the B&M I currently have. Maybe the GTO units aren't as good but the F body ones are fine in both brands.

Pig eh?

Add some decent heads, an even more decent cam, some headers and a big stall (Obviously for the A4 guys only) and go 11's.....I'm currently at 12.08, and shooting for 11's in cooler weather N/A.

I don't need no stinkin' spray to hit 11's in my Pig (I mean Goat)

I never cease to be amazed by the ignorance on the boards! I have OVER 1,500 passes at the track with a ripper, it works flawlessly. Ditto for the 5.0s ive driven. Crap huh?

05+ have dual exhaust with a resonator. Most just chop out the resonator and put in a custom H section to make it an H pipe. I believe the 04's have duals as well factory, but they have 2 seperate resonators towards the back (great places to put dual 2.5'' cutouts). If its an X pipe it is no doubt custom, they didnt have factory X pipes.
