Default Cam size?

What would be a good cam for a daily driver while wanting to keep gas mileage. Im basicly looking for track times and gas mileage from other users with bigger cams. I heard its not good to go over a .575 Lift for a ls1 street car. Looking for value and performance. Help me pick my camshaft.

I went with TR224 on a 114, if your not worried about emissions, get the 112 lsa.

I agree on something close to the 224 on a 114LSA. Check out the for sale section, I have a brand new one with a LS2 timing chain for sale. Allot cheaper than it would be from a vendor. Pm me if interested. A cam like this will sound close to stock, have much more power and sacrifice very minimal gas milleage, tuned maybe not any. Good luck on your choice.

Its really a personal perferance, unless strictly a track car I'd never put in a big cam. What's a big cam to me well cam only I'd say MS3 and up. My buddy has a MS3 with prc 2.5's and I still don't think I'd go there but I am mostly street duty. Like to have the enjoyable dig and get there faster, not being a dog. Gears, converter, transmission, etc are big factors too. An M6 with 4.10's is a different story than a A4 with stock gears and converter

I was searching for the same type of advice for the past few months. For sure I would stay with a mild cam that will give you alot more low-mid rpm pull than the big cams. 224/224 or a 230/236 maybe.. There are many good choices it seems that can net you the same overall performance and drivability. Just avoid the temptation to go real big.

that is totally a personal subjective question.

guys are running high 23x cams on the street and are fine with them.

my poorly tuned 233 cam runs decent on the street...its the clutch that makes it tricky...not the cam's fault.

oh and with a crappy part throttle tune i knock down 25mph highway (windows down 75-80mph)

~400rwhp.....need to retune and redyno to confirm

I've got the Torquer V1 (233/233 - .595/.595) and it does pretty good. If I granny it around I get around low 20s mpg. Oh, I'm making the #'s in the sig w/ a LS1 intake and no underdrive.
