Default Cam recommendation

Hi,

Im from Australia and have been browsing this formum for a while and just signed up. You guys are getting some great times with your setups. I plan to go a H/C setup now that I have done all the bolt-on mods and tuning. Now I need some recommendations on what size cam to run. I have an LS1/LS6 intake with built trans and toughend stock stall converter and 3.46 gears. I plan to go stage 1 heads (stock valve size, ported), double valve springs, hardend push rods, arp rod bolts and head studs - what size cam for a daily driver with some occasional track work and circuit racing (tuning is ok)? Also what RPM can you spin to safely with above setup?

what do u mean by "toughened stock stall converter"??? u'll need at least a 3000-3500 flash stall converter to get the most out of it... u won't need double valve springs on a stage 1... jpr makes some good stage 1 heads, he uses LS6 springs and they work great with lower lift cams, comp has a 224/228-.534/.537-112, that would make a good combo... it would need tuning, and would probably peak around 6300, with a redline of 6600...

Had a few stronger bits installed in the standard converter when I got my trans done - same stall speed (1600 I think).

I have decided to go the stall convertor (prob 2500-3000 rpm). What size cam can you go with good drivability for a daily driver, some occasional track work and circuit racing (reason for going for a lower rpm stall)?
