with your heads milled you can only go so big w/o fly cutting
with stock heads you can only go so big w/o fly cutting

you want more power you fly cut and run a bigger cam, but you can still only go so big.
so your gonna fly cut, what size you gonna jam in their

I am going to flycut, as for what size cam I'm not sure, I talked to Patrick G. today and he said something along the lines of a FMS-13 230/232 .610/.595 111+2 I think is what he said, but I was hoping to run a little bigger... I might flycut and run the G5X3 112 even though it is said to be able to fit without fly cutting, but I have to be safe NOT sorry... a bent valve would be killer for me

Do you know what size gasket your going to run?

I have my Dart 205's (same valve size as your AFR's) milled to a 59cc and run a .040" cometic with the X3 cam (on a 114)... I notched my pistons .080" as the guys over at LGM suggested, just to be on the safe side. No issues what so ever, flycuttin is a breeeze after you do it and have ran 20 or so bottles of juice thru it as well..

just fly cut it or otherwise you will be like damn i should have done that and got the bigger cam. you will be fine. I would have a guy custom build you a cam to your specs.

OK i think I know what I'm going to do...

Flycut my pistons .080 (or should I only do .070?)
LGM G5X3 (112 lsa)
Performabuilt Level 2 Trans. (3600 stall/Manual Valve Body)
Motive 3.73 rear end gears
ORY QTP Y-Pipe--SLP LM1 (i'll deal with the rasp later...)

How does it sound? Tell if/where I'm stupid....

Just be sure to debur all of the sharp edges after you are done or you could end up with some detonation problems.

Good Call Bowtie, I remeber they stressed that in one of the write ups....

For those who did flycut, did you cut both the intake and exhaust?

I didn't need to cut both. I only needed to cut the intake side. Then lightly rubbed with some fine grit sandpaper on the edges. 2 passes with some thumb pressure was plenty. Stock pistons are SOFT.

It might be a good idea to clay the motor just to check...

I agree, the Vindicator continues to put up great results in cam only applications and head/cam applications.

It sounds like you don't want to end up wishing you would have gone bigger, in which case I would go with this cam. It puts up the big top end numbers like other big cams, but it also has great low end torque numbers every time.

Flycut and do it.

So by flycutting, I plan on cutting .080, will I be able to fit "any" cam??

Because that Vengence Vindicator is a moster!
