Default Should I stop being a little girl?

I am having the hardest time finding the right cam to fit my set-up all because I dont want to fly cut the pistons, I have gotten tons of custom cam ideas, most of which are totally different from each other, and not to mention a lot smaller than what i would like listen to and numbers that I would like to see...

Should I just sac up and fly cut the pistons? Is it going to be worth the difficulty?

If I do fly cut the pistons what cam do you suggest for me? MS4 or G5X(3/4)?

Just flycut and get the best out of your setup.

Do these custom grind cams need flycutting? I think a custom grind is the way to go.

Talk to Patrick G.

I talked to Patrick G. and he recommended no bigger than 230/232 without flycutting, and I was really hoping to go much bigger than that...

Did you mean flycut and then a custom grind?

If its the same heads as in your sig., the g5x3 cam does not need flycut with the milled AFR's. Louis at LG said so himself many times in this thread

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/569395-g5x3-vs-ms3.html

I was about to sell mine until I saw this thread because I didnt want to flycut either. I am still going to check PTVC though

Are your heads really milled .059 or is that a typo and you have a 59cc chamber?

...waiting for N4cer to come in and tell you not to be

But seriously, 02blackbeauty19 hit the nail on the head. If your heads are 59cc, and not milled .059, then the G5X3 is just what the doctor ordered. That said, it would still be wise to check PTV clearance when you install it.

Ya, it's a typo the heads are 59cc...

So should I just do the G5X3 or should I flycut and go bigger?

G5X3 is a nice cam, I say run it but if you want the 'best' out of it than nothing beats a custom cam

Yes sir.

IMO that would be the best route to take.

When the intake duration is larger than the exhaust duration.

For example, a 230/228 would be a reverse split.

I'm all ears...

I have gotten several ideas on custom cams that were reverse split...

But now I am I wondering if it would be worth it to just flycut and put a bigger cam in, I am definately down to do it if it will make a power difference from me being able to put something in the high 23* or low 24* by flycutting as opposed to something like a 230/232 and being lazy about it and not flycutting...

Jesus, that's a man sized cam! That would be a monster in a LSX build. On a serious note I vote for the G5X3 cam.

Okay, I'm here to tell you to man up and flycut. It's not so bad. Everyone is so pussified of it for no reason. WHAT REASON DO YOU HAVE TO NOT FLYCUT? LOL! Now I've done my part.

If he's using good heads like the AFRs, and has an intake that will do the job for what he's working with, I don't see any reason to need to go reverse split.
