Re: Best sleeper cam??
What about the Thunder Racing "Old Man Cam"?
It's billed as a sleeper cam with a stock idle.

Re: Best sleeper cam??
I have a 224/224 0.581/0.581 114LSA in my corvette, with LT headers and the stock exhaust. The exhaust note sounds the same as stock, and it idles like stock (only bumped idle speed 50rpm). It's only louder at WOT/higher rpms. There's more valvetrain noise, I don't know how noticable it is from outside the car. I hear Yella Terra roller rockers would eliminate most of the extra valvetrain noise.
If you keep your mufflers stock, you can run a fairly big cam and it'll sound stock.

I'd call Jayson at MTI and ask about his new "Stealth" cam. Sounds almost stock but is making some great power!
what is the lift 4 the new "Stealth" cam

I'm leaving the stock manifolds on, but will be replacing the cats with Mufflex cat-bypass pipes next week.
I haven't dyno'd it yet, and I won't be taking it to the track until next week, but I will say this for certain: If this isn't the sleepiest sleeper cam around, I don't know what is. No lope whatsoever, and I got rid of the last bit of cam surge with some idle tuning (~875 RPM idle in Park) and changing the throttle body blade hole from 11/32" to 13/32". My wife couldn't tell the difference in the car's sound when I started it for her. It sounds a little deeper, but that's it. Power is better in the midrange, and really comes alive up top. I'll post times when I get 'em. I can post a sound clip if anybody wants to hear it. (But I'm tellin' ya, it just sounds like a stock LS1.)
Hey Killer, I was going to get that cam but I wound up getting a TR224 since it was on a GP for a good price. I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you. BTW, a don't think it will be much of a sleeper cam, even on a 115 LSA. :p

Re: Best sleeper cam??
Killer, thanks for the report on that 222/224; I guess the way you got it on a 115 smoothed it out along with your PCM tuning (high idle helps for sure.) If you dump your cats, it might become more noticeable, though; cats make a huge difference in exhaust sound. Hey, if it fooled your wife, that's worth something! I'm hoping to do the same with a TR224 114; if my wife knew how much I'm spending on this cam swap, she'd blow a gasket! I'm going to install it while she is out of town, and just tell her I did the LS6 pcv upgrade!
