Default AFR 225's on a stock short block?

Opinions needed....I'm doing a Head Cam & Intake swap on my stock short block this winter and I will be building a 454 Lsx short block starting in spring. The question is, would AFR 225's work ok with the stock short block to hold me over until I get the 454 done? I only want to buy one set of heads and one intake if possible. I don't want to wait until the short block is done because I need to have something to drive for the spring. Any comments would be appreciated.

Yes they will. You WILL lose a bit down low, but not bad. I'm running a 346 w AFR 225's, model #1660 small bore heads. I had them milled to 61cc's which was .018 thousandths. The smaller chambers of the 1660's take less milling to bring them down. I plan to send them back to have the chambers opened up when I finish the 402 short block. I suppose they will end up at 68-69 cc's when they're done. My current cam is a 228/230 xer on 110+1. I will probably go to a 236- 240/ 242-248 cam for the new short block. I'm also running a ported FAST 90/90 BTW.
