1BDTRAM.... Matt, you really should read up on some of these huge *** cams... they are not all they are cracked up to be, especially if you want to drive your **** anywhere... of course, they produse "pretty" dyno sheets but you will more than likely have to spin it 6800+ to get the power out of itm whuich probably wont really come in until 5000+

Like has been said, the reverse splits have been making great power all over in these things with just longtubes and simple bolt ons... USEABLE POWER!!! Its always best to get a custom grind to fit what your specific setup is. If you want off the shelf, there's a couple cams out there that will do pretty well, TR's reverse split (TR230/224) will work nicely... but custom grind is the way to go...

TR230 here...it makes awesome power everywhere. It is so much more fun to drive now. I've got an FLT tranny/Yank PT4400/4.10's going in next week. I think I'm gonna like it a little more after all that!!

Sounds like you need a custom cam, contact predatorZ as many have and are happy with his resuts. I could pretty much guess what he'll reccommend as its a great cam virtually within the entire rpm range. Something along these lines, 230/230 .612/.590 112+2 LSA or another one of his favorites 227/230 .639/.612 114 +4LSA one more why not 228/232 .588/.595 112+4LSA These are some examples as I think I am going to go for the last one as I don't want the extreme lift like the middle one has or either the first one but is just a tad bigger. The lastt one will be a very nce torque cam down low yet pull like a **** up top. Good luck and enjoy, oh and by the way he's gone for 10 days right now in Thailand for vacation so won't be able to return pm's if you are interested in contacting him. - Mike

No clue on the vacuum, but I have my idle set at 800 in park/neutral and 900 in gear with or without AC. Idles great and sounds pretty mean.

well, my car went 12.20's at 115 on slicks in street trim with a FMS F-11 on a 114. I now have a MS4, and i wouldnt trade my big f'in cam for the small one. if you tune it good enough, it will drive just like a small cam! my new times are in my sig.

bigger is not always better, but i will stick with my MS4

MS4 isnt to big for a daily driven A4....my buddy daily drove his MS4 camaro with a 3800 stall.....Idled perfect and wasnt to loud, it had good street maners....I do how ever think its to hard on springs, so i would rather go with an MS3...its a proven preformer.

thats another reason why deciding on a cam is so frustrating.. lots of people say bigger isnt better, and its all in the tune and all. but the only reason i wouldnt mind throwing a big cam, is just cuz i dont want to spend this much cash knowing u could have gone big and drivability would still be manageable. also, cars nowadays are getting more powerful and faster only reason to go big!!!

thought so,just as like school engines.
thats what i like about reverse splits ,you can fill the cylinders ample enough
+ with the less exhaust duration your building up air momemtum on each intake charge, thus ovelap is reduced + good idle too.
i never intended to go 230ish but now i'm not too sure, only plan to run
a4 +3.5 GEARS,+i like the concept of slight lag so the car can be tractable for the missus too at conservative throttle openings, where as going to a 215-222 might make it too abrupt for her liking in the wet with the locker diff.
i guess i can scale it up to 220-230 now i got your vote of confidence
incidentaly was the car drivable till you done the tune with the 230,
or does one need to run it in limp mode till its sorted?

what i mean was, why spend all that cash on getting a cam, tuning, parts and everything when afterwards u should have gone bigger or gotten more!! now u gotta spend more money to swap out your cam again.. thats just what i got from doing searches and reading up on people who went big the first time and its a good valid point. lots of people say big cams are dogs down low, but since im an auto we dont really need to worry bout down low cuz our verters will take care of any laziness down low!! im actually up in the air on a speed inc 231/237 cam or just going all out and getting an ms3!!

I love my MS4 and im an M6. Had the car dyno tuned then had it street tuned and after that it drove almost like stock. Can drive it everyday no problem. Just matters on the tune. Put the PRC 5.3L heads on like me and trust me you will love it. After a while through a 100 shot on it and you will really love it. The 100 shot really woke my car up on the bottom end.

I daily drive my car everyday. And as far as getting tuned i went to Newtech and would never consider going to synergy. I delt with rick getting EGR block off plates for 00Formula00 and imo he was a dick. Also i have heard he locks your PCM so you have to go back to him no matter what. Plus Nick is $450 for a tune when Rick is $500.

I know a guy around here who has a TSP 224R cam only car and he can hold with my buddy who has a MS3 on M6 for a while until the higher rpm. And since your cam is bigger than that I think you'll be there... Are you going to have Synergy tune or Newtech?
Ya Jon's TA is pretty quick. I raced him from a 50 ish roll and was in 3rd gear (mistake) so he pulled at first then i came back and pulled away. Then i raced him from a 1st gear roll, and i didnt hear honks so he left first. But its all in fun So in my opinion go with the MS3 and 5.3 heads.

I would recommend another tuner... But I don't want to get into another flamefest, so I will leave it at that.

I had the TR230/224 for about a year and with Lt's and ls6 int, EWP, SLP pulley it put down 390rwhp and ran a best of 11.90 @ 116 on motor and 10.82 @ 126 on a 150. I was very pleased with it and would buy another one for a mild street car.
Like always, I wanted more!!

The car drove like stock with smooth but choppy idle. I loved that cam! It's hard to beat for a small cam. I wanted to see what the TR236/230 would have been like. Consider it a big brother to the TR230 lol.

well my friend was going to get his car tuned by Nick but he said hes not 2 experienced tuning ms4's and then told him to drill a big hole in his throttle body wtf?

I have driven and know plenty of synergy tuned cars and all drive great with good results.
