My cam versus the big boys MS4,MS3
I have chosen to go with a tr 230/224 111lsa for my set up, everyone in my car club is either ms3/ms4 cam only automatics........how will my cam on my m6 hold up against them? Im guessing ill just have better low end.
Im not expecting to win against them, but just want to know what to expect performance wise at the track against a TSP magic stick

Sorry to be off subject, but are you Nor-Cal Muscle? You guys ought to come down here, or we will come up to San Jose (I actually go to Santa Clara, I miss my ride)
-As for your cam I don't think you'll be far behind them... I know a guy around here who has a TSP 224R cam only car and he can hold with my buddy who has a MS3 on M6 for a while until the higher rpm. And since your cam is bigger than that I think you'll be there... Are you going to have Synergy tune or Newtech?

We are from Pacifica, we'll have to meet up and drive sometime... My car is down right now (good old 4L60E) so I'm hoping to be up and running by thanksgiving...
But I think you will be able to hold with those guys fairly well, especially if they are running through the stock trans. the m6 will be a huge equalizer

Ryder, I went 410/391 with a really bad exhaust system... I just ordered a LG G5X3 I'm looking for 450+ on the LS6 intake... and I haven't hit the track yet..

It's all in the setup, if they are cam only they will not perform well. Add some 5.3 liter heads or milled ls6 heads and bump the compression up prob a whole different story. I bet those a4 ms3 and ms4 guys run stock gears i am sure that doesnt help a lot either

If you want all out performance under the curve but yet pull like a **** up top than custom is the only way to go. I too think the MS3 and MS4 are garbage. They are for the track, but a cam does need to be tailored for the whoe combo. Gears will wake up anything and with one of those cams and stock gears you are gonna chug, chug, chug along, lol

With your gears you'll be fine. Depending on what else those other cars are running will make the difference. Stock gears and a "small" converter and you'll out run them for a bit until the hit peak power. But If they are running a good stall, gears, and sticky tires......you're done.
whoops....saw that's on your to do list. You'll have a somewhat rough start off the line compared to one of your buddies if they have a decent stall and sticky tires....even if they have stock gears. Gears will wake up any cam'ed car....magic stick or not.

ive been wondering this also. im an A4 and my car is all street and semi daily driver!! i plan on going with a vig 3200 or 3600 with some 3.73.. ive been looking at the mti x1 230/227 also. but been liking what i have been seeing out of the speed inc si5. 231/237.. so im wondering would i be happy with that or just go ***** out and get the ms3!! i only say go ***** out, cuz i dont want to spend this much cash and knowing yeah i could still have gone bigger and MAYBE been able to deal with driving a big cam.. but ive never rode in a cammed car before, which is why i keep changing my mind on cams.. so if u have a small cam geared up right and a big cam geared up right, the the big cam still would win right? so if thats the case they why not the bigger cam? especially if u know your doing heads and every other bolt on!!
