Vettenuts is right. The copper is just a coating over the hardened steel. Aluminum is not a good material for your shims.

Ahh well....they in there now !!! lol

Surely with the hardened steel spring seat sitting on top of the aluminium, it should work ok ??

Car is defo much improved. Both boost and rpm ability have increased with the new shims in place.
Although things still arent nice around 7000rpm, but it will get there now. Cant see it going much beyond that though.
Its making boost better at the top end, and defo pulling harder. But boost still fluctuates approaching 7000rpm.

I still need to get some stock rockers to try too.

80 thou less than what they were.

The few I did measure, were circa 1.86/1.87 before I touched them.

Makes no odds now....whilst the car was running much better last night. When I started it to put it in the garage, things didnt sound right.

Same this morning. I checked the left bank, and 15psi on No3 and a melted plug.

So its all coming apart now.

Me too....

And now finding all 4 plugs on the right bank melted....makes me wonder !!!! lol

I dont recall AFR's getting that lean at any point last night. Although I did get a little eager with the timing perhaps as things did seem to be improving.
