Default Best Medium Size Cam???

Well I want a cam but I do not want to go too big. I have all bolt-ons so far on my 01 6speed trans am, currently building a true dual set-up. Any how could you guys reccomend me a cam that makes pretty good power but also has great drivalbilty? I would like to have around 400 rwhp! Thanks fellas

See sig, but I dont think the 228R will get you to over 400 RWHP with out heads.............unless you also did the 90/90 set up

I think a 224 or 228 is a good option, and would be greatly complimented by heads. Or the one I have below is a good way to go I think but with it your getting to the point where you might not gain much over the cams above without heads.

580/580 230/230 /113 that would probly make that heads out but u might need springs but the yellow z06 would work for that

400 RWHP w/out heads with a medium cam is gonna be tuff dude....

I like/have the Futral F11....228/230/112.

See sig for numbers through stock heads/stock TB/4:10s....

Car has awesome midrange TQ. And ran 11.95 at full weight....

high 11's sounds good to me, ive got re-worked ls1 heads and full suspension, I think if he did every bolt on he could do it with a good dyno tune, im hoping to make around 425ish but im also gonna have a 3k stall

228/232: adjust the lobes to your liking. Adjust the lobe separation to your liking. I was going with this cam but I decided I want something bigger that gave me awesome power but didn't want to spin it over 6800 RPMS so I decided on a 234/242 .598/.612 110 LSA +4. Whatever you do, go with a proven cam. TR224 and Comp's 228/232 are both proven cams.

I have a Camotion 228/232 110+2 on the shelf here at the shop....wicked street cam...

I wish I had a motor to put it in though....try a cam like this and you WILL NOT be dissapointed. The LSA and duration are designed to produce a lot of low and and midrange torque. The advance helps the cause as well!

I would say either the TR 224/224 .563/.563 112-114 or the AFR 224/228 cam for the moderate realm. I agree with above statement though 400rwhp without heads using a medium cam is hard to do. I also like the G5X1 but have no experience with it. Had the TR 224 for 3 years though.

My 228/228 hasn't dissapointed me yet. If ur going to do heads eventually, this cam definately responds well. No track times yet, on the street I've beaten a couple bolt on and pullied cobras. Hopefully I can get some times before the season is over. Good luck with the decision.

g5x1 228/232. I stll like my cam for DD. But like anyone on here will say it all comes down to the tune, and what you consider good drivability.

You could also go for a T2 on a 114.

Research thunder racing's reverse split 230/224 on a 111lsa.....that's the cam im going with, makes over 400rwhp since your a m6 and has great street manners. And with a higher intake duration it still pulls good with stock heads, and its a little bit more that a 224 but not extreme like the other "dog" cams that everyone is leg humping now adays

wow, I coulda sworn you were gonna praise the reverse-split cam this time.

I would seriously go for the flat power band before I shoot for 400+ on stock heads.
