I acheived 402 to the wheels with stock LS6 heads and Tqr 2 cam and it didnt cost me much
LS6 heads-550
Milling .015/flow tested-175
new OEM valves-60
Dual spring kit-230
7.4 PR-90
Tqr 2 cam-270
LS7 lifters-100
Total- $1475
Now if I get a FAST 90/90 I could probably achieve 430 to the wheels.

nice, so a trq.v.2 is a pretty good off the shelf cam eh? my figures are...
PRC stage 2.5 5.3L heads....$1150.00
TSP mill .012" to 60cc............$75.00
LS6 oil pump.......................$150.00
Double timing chain kit..........$125.00
TSP chromoly pushrods.........$109.00
Custom Patrick G cam...........$400.00
TOTAL BUILD.....................$2009.00 with install by myself and not including dyno tuning.

this is opposed to getting the tsp heads and cam KIT which would be...
PRC stage 2.5 5.3L heads and cam kit......$1,659.00
TSP Mill .012" to 60cc...............................$75.00
LS6 Oil Pump..........................................$150 .00
Double timing chain kit.............................$125.00
TOTAL BUILD........................................$2009 .00

So either a TSP shelf cam or a custom spec Patrick G cam......decisions decisions...lol

I got OEM valves on the heads so I wouldnt run into fly-cutting. But the looks of the TSP packages are pretty good with the cam selections they offer. I take it with those packages there wouldnt be any fly-cutting involved? I picked up 80 RWHP using this setup so I would venture if you used a Tqr 2 cam plus a good portedset of 5.3s with stock size valves you would probably see 10-20 more HP.

Hey I put down 445rwhp and 422ft lbs. Mods are in the sig. Patriot stage 2 heads with 59cc chambers. Cam specs are 228/230 .585/.585 on a 112lsa. My setup helped me to get what you are after. I also daily drive this car.

I do not intend to spray!!! for me I want to do it all the way it used to be...N/A. Spray is cheap power in a bottle. I do not beleive in it. I will only have about $2000, so I want to get as much bang for the buck I can.

You forgot gaskets, head bolts, fluids, plugs, and incidentals (like the high possibility of breaking your oil sending unit when pulling the intake off).

and there's nothing wrong with spray, it's just like any other power adder. People say bottles are for babies, but I assure you that after they win, they aren't the ones crying.

joker check out the lists i made above, i think i will be going with a custom cam since Patrick G always makes more power than the shelf cams! the only thing im missing is a UD pulley which is another 200 buks and ill prolly just scrimp and save and pick up at the same time. are you going to be doing the install yourself??? if not then install prices will kill you and you may wanna look into some used heads...there is a set of Stage 3 LS6's in the F/S section right now for $500.

to the post above, i believe the TSP kit comes with head bolts, i will just have to pick up some cometic .040's and fluids.....it was just intended as a rough list i realize **** happens......but thanks for the heads up!

it might come with some stock replacement bolts, but I wouldn't use anything less than ARP bolts.

"I will only have about $2000, so I want to get as much bang for the buck I can."

looks like you're gonna be cam only.

you'll go over budget with the small stuff, incidentals and tune.

if you want good torque, i'd shy away from the BIG cams. torquer 2 or the F14 (standard lift) will give fantastic results cam only. and when you can afford it, a set of heads will boost the output to darn close to 450rwhp.

on a budget....make an overall plan....then break it down and do it in stages as money allows.

boltons
cam
drivetrain (stock clutch won't last long)...maybe you can nurse the 10bolt
heads
FAST intake to put icing on the cake.

You want some proof then order the parts

The VRX5 (236/238) typically makes 410 to 415 at the wheels with a 10 bolt rear and a good exhaust. Add in a well ported FAST at 20 to 25rwhp and you have 430 to 440rwhp... Add a nice set of TrickFlows and you are making 475 to 480... We have done it quite a few times

Futral claims the F14 highlift gives up nothing to the F13 or F14 anywhere.

I hit 400 through a set of home ported 241 heads and a 226 patriot cam.. also it's an auto on mickey t's. Seems like his goal should be about attainable.

Can't forget all the oil you'll need, radiator fluid, tune, oil sending unit, maybe the temp sensor on the driver side head, spark plugs, crank bolt, spark plugs if you got stock ones (they do tend to break easy).. the **** really adds up quick. My budget went something like this.

241 heads - $50 + $150 (valve job/mill)
Porting bits - $75
226 pat cam - $225
SLP springs/tit retainers - $100
ls6 oil pump - $50
ls6 timing chain - $25
ls6 intake - $250
Head bolts/gaskets - $150
Oil/tranny fluid - $40
Spark plug wires - $50
Crank bolt - $5
Oil sending unit/socket - $50
Formato tuned - $400

Total - $1620

And I'd be willing to be I missed a few things, and you CANT do **** much cheaper than that. Good luck!

I am SOL right now. I was researching this for when I got tax money back in a few months, but the car is DOA. A4 slipping, bad tapping which sounds like lifters, dead cylinder, most likely #7, broke motor mount, bearings on belt tensioner grinding. Had awesome aftermarket warranty that was going to replace engine for $175, but due to lack of rear O2's and custom exahust, warranty voided. Cannot afford to repair, still owe too much to sell.
