Redesigned #26918 Beehive™ Valve Springs
Here's an small clip from CompCams' 2008 New Product Catalog:
"The industry’s best selling Beehive™ Valve Spring has now been totally redesigned for significantly improved performance and durability. Realizing that today’s most aggressive late model engines (especially GM Gen III/LS engines) have evolved beyond the limitations of the original #26918 design, the COMP Cams® engineering team has developed the next generation #26918 Beehive™ Valve Spring.
Featuring many of the same manufacturing processes as our exotic NASCAR restrictor plate and Daytona Prototype Beehive™ Valve Springs, the new #26918 offers an extended .625" lift capability and added spring pressure to control today’s aggressive camshaft designs. These new valve springs remain dimensionally identical to the previous design and are easy to spot as a result of an advanced micro-peening process that eliminates material stress, leaving behind a unique silver satin finish. Furthermore, we continue to refine our exclusive Super Clean™ process to ensure that only the finest wire material from premiere steel mills around the world is used in the manufacture of COMP Cams® Valve Springs – nobody goes to greater lengths to ensure the integrity of their valve springs. From daily driver to hardcore street/strip vehicles, you now have more reasons than ever before to make the #26918 Beehive™ Valve Springs your valve spring of choice.
• Extended .625” max lift, 125 lbs seat pressure at 1.800” installed height for aggressive cam designs
• Incorporates 10+ years of Beehive™ Valve Spring development and refined manufacturing processes
• Designed with GM Gen III/LS engines in mind – for use with hydraulic and solid roller camshafts
• Features manufacturing processes found in exotic race springs, providing a unique silver satin finish"
Seat Load: 125 lbs @ 1.800" Open Load: 367 lbs @ 1.100" Coil Bind:1.100"

It's still the most well known spring part number around....why would you want to get away from that? and people still aren't looking at the big picture. Chris Mays (who is taking all the calls from people needing replacement springs) says he has about 50 total broken springs reported/returned. Can you fathom how many of those old springs they sold??? If every vendor on here had that good a percentage of customers happy with their products, we could get rid of the sponsor feedback section all together....it would be nothing but great reviews!

We've already got handfuls of customers running them. They're coming out of the same plant as your Patriots, PRC's, and several other big name springs!

They're the same price they've always been. I'll throw a note over to the web guys and get a fresh image on there.

Well, if they perform without too much flaw, this a heck of a spring for XE-R, XFI lobes, add lightweight valves and Titanium retainers and you will love 6500rpm+

i was thinking about geting some prc/pp dual gold springs but this new 918 is catching my eye. But i have a quston, do the stock retainers and locks fit the 918's? Would it be a good idea to get some new locks and retainers and valve seals if i was to use the 918's? I guess the dual spring kit is more bang for the buck if replacing valve seals, springs, locks, seats and retainers

Seals are like cheap (get all brown exhaust), locks are cheap as well, what I would invest in is keeping the weight as low as possible for high rev stability, that translates into Titanium Retainers.
That is the whole purpose of running Beehives, keep the weight down, improved harmonics = happy 7000 rpm capability.

But this is the whole problem with the 918s. They NEED Ti retainers, but by the time you add the cost of the springs, more for locks, more for seats, and 200+ for Ti retainers, they cost twice what the PRC or Patriots do... since those are available in a kit with TI retainers to start, and their total cost is more like 250 complete, where the 918 with Ti retainers end up closer to 500.
