Guages with a head/cam swap?
I am thinkin' about throwing some extra guages in my car to monitor the car a bit better..
I am planning on getting one of the Interceptor guages and then maybe an additional oil pressure guage..
Anyone have any other recommendations?
I am thinking about putting the Inteceptor on the pillar and the oil pressure guage in the lil' cubby hole in front of the shifter..
Thanks
Jeff
If a power adder goes on a Boost Guage, or N20 Bottle pressure is nice.
I'd look into mounting a thermocouple on each header primary. Monitoring them all at the same time would take an interesting setup, but if one cylinder goes real lean or dead, you'll know. It's a good bit less expensive and takes less space then an O2 sensor on each primary. I'm thinking about doing that when I drop in the big motor.
I know the flyboys run some impressively expensive glass cockpit display systems that will monitor these for you in not much space or weight - will scream at you when certain thresholds are exceeded, etc.... There's gotta be something more budget minded that the road racing teams are using without resorting to a full-fledged data acquisition system.
Good luck!

Funny you should mention that..
We are currently running one of these:

It's a really nice setup..
There is just no real place to run one in the car..

Years ago, I badly wanted to build a Berkut. They were just too expensive. By the time my career progressed to where I could, they went under.

Back to the original topic, you have plenty of room in your car for one of those. Just ditch the radio.

We are thinking about building a Pitts Model 12..

I used to fly out of FTY and PDK.. Pops used to be at EAL..

The pitts looks pretty sweet! My "someday" toy would be a midget mustang. zoom zoom.

Good luck with the engine swap.
The heads/cam is almost complete.. If I could get a few more days in town, I would be done by now if I had some more days in town..
I think I am going to order the Inteceptor soon and then look for maybe a few more instruments.. Interceptor should provide quite a bit of feedback...
All you gotta do is pull it and tap it.. I think that is where I will pull my pressure from..
There's no way I would rely on the stock tachometer. Mounted by the left side pillar is a good spot, it doesn't get in the way of anything. I don't see why people only want just a shift light, I want to see the exact rpm my motor is at.
I just need to keep an eye on things..

The Interceptor has a tach in it..
