With the latest Yella Terra craze going on, I have yet to figure out the motive of spending hundreds of dollars or a rocker set. Can anyone educate me on why one should buy Yella Terra's? Anyone have any before/after DYNO #'s for these things. Thanks

Raging motorsports got 8 hp when they dyno'd them, they also are quieter and will not fail, some of the stockers although rare have failed spilling needle bearings.

Mike about said it all... The only thing I might add would be that the Yella Terras would be much more stable at high rpm since they are a shaft mount rocker, versus the stock pedestal mount rockers. Also, they are much beefier, and wouldn't be proned to deflection.
Of course, that will only matter if you're planning on running high rpms and really aggressive lobe profiles on your cam.

I was just curious about them, really don't plan of getting them becuase rarely, if ever will I go to the strip, and my engine will probably never make over 400hp. Just seemed like every other thread was "I got Yella Terras!","I want Yella Terras!","Can't install my Yella Terras", etc...
Thanks for the info

1. It quieted down my sewing machine of a valvetrain which is worth all the money to me.
2. As a bonus I get added stability since I rev the car to 7K rpms, and in rare instances there have been rocker failures.
3. The rockers are lighter in weight and have less friction, both of which reduce valve float
4. You also get somewhere around 5-8rwhp above 3500rpms.
5. Did I mention they'll increase my valvespring life? Comp 987 double springs aren't cheap.
6. There's more, but if this isn't enough for you then spend your money elsewhere.

Lighter weight rocker arms means less inertia in the valve train which will put less load on pushrods, lifters, springs and cam. I've noticed that GM doesn't run the kind of lift and ramps that we do without lightweight hollow valves. Same idea behind Ti retainers.

Hmmm, I wonder if my wife would understand . . . she likes it when I help other people
No, I think I'd better have the rockers shipped to the UPS station and put on "Hold for Pickup," she knows I've been bad when the Big Brown Truck shows up!
