Best matched heads for G5X-2 cam

Re: Best matched heads for G5X-2 cam
LS6 heads ported from LGM are making the best power with the G5X-2 cam, but, for us "on a budget" guys out there, Lou is working with Jay at Absolute Speed on 5.3L Stage 2 heads. I put down 447rwhp/414tq with that combo. Call Lou and talk to him about that package.

We should be able to see what kind of a difference there is between a set of the Absolute Speed heads and LG's LS6 heads within the next couple of weeks... my car is set up pretty similar to Cam's car (details on that when the dyno numbers are in on my car and I have Cam's permission) except for the fact that I am running LG LS6's.

I made 385rwhp on my MTI stage II G5 combo, now I have LG's stage II LS6 heads and G5(original) and made 417rwhp on a slipping tranny with my crappy Mac,Flowmaster exhaust system. Their heads made 30+rwhp increase. G5X-2 on the way!

What about TEA's Stage III 6.0L head? Why not go with that? IMHO that wouldbe the best deal all the way around. I have pretty much decided that this is the way to go. I'll be doing a similar custom cam- just less lift than the G5X2. I think it'll work. I'm still talking to people about the setup.
It appears that the Stage III head DOES work very well on stock cube motors.

Lou says that this cam like compression. I would go with a set of ported 5.3L LS1 heads or a set of ported LS6 heads. Patriot has a great price on them. Texas Speed has a special going on that can't be beat.

What will the compression be with 6.0L heads? It will be less than the 5.3s or the LS6s right? And another thing. Whats the safest compression I can run on 91 octane? Im in Cali and thats all we have available.

Yeah, the compression with the 6.0L heads will be lower than if you used 5.3L, LS1, or LS6 heads due to the larger chamber size. You can deck the dog$hit out of them to get the chamber size back down, but I (personally) am not comfortable having a head decked .045" or more.
In any event, I'm not sure how much compression you could get away with on Cali pump gas... you may still be able to get away with ~11:1, but have the timing pulled back to prevent KR; I don't really know. Honestly, LG would probably be able to provide the best answer here...
Godspeed, are you out there?? What do you think??
