you don't NEED new rods. I'd get them looked at by a machine shop, though. Diamond has some off-the-shelf pistons in 4.100" I think...they means they'd be closer to 500 for pistons with pins and rings...i could be wrong though.

382 all bore = 4.100" bore, stock 3.622" stroke.
382 all stroke = 4" stoke, stock 3.9" bore.

there are variations of course.

How much weight is added by sleeving an aluminum block? Both dry and wet... Those integrated-deck Darton sleeves look to displace allot of aluminum, I'd be curious to see the difference in weight then.

IMO, no. Unless you are building a full out race car, the extra 80 lbs from the LQ4 block it not going to make that much difference.

What is the max CR for an iron blocked engine with aluminum heads....?

Ive seen 12.5-plus with an iron block I think.

For HP, all bore
For TQ, all stroke

Street? Its preference...but I still don't trust all bore aluminum jobs...call me paranoid. If you don't mind the weight, go with an iron 408, I wouldn't (personally) pay for a $2K cranks...but whatever..

and if you by a sleeved block...you shouldnt need any machine work that I know of.

My only question is how are you two so retarted with such a hi post count. I dont understand you two. You are willing to pay $2800 for a resleeved block, but not $2k for a crank. Then you want to go with an iron block buy the crank, and pistons but not get rods. Whats up with your thinking? If your going to do something do it right the first time. These motors arent cheap. You have to pay to play.

I actually recommended a 346-348 setup first, then a 39x" setup using an $800 crank and $400 block. But whatever you want to talk **** about 100-post boy. I would NEVER pay 2400 for a bare block or a crank. I could build a whole SBC for that.

Your so smart you didnt even see why i went with that cam. Im not worried about N/A power. Just want it to hold togeather long enough till i do my bottom end. MTI just tuned to tide me over till my D1-SC is on.

Do you realise we are in Australia?
We manufacture a nodular cast iron crankshaft in 4.00" stroke to suit
the Chev LS-1 engine.
We also manufacture a matching "I" or "H" beam (both)4340 steel conrods
to suit our crank.
Our crank has Ford 302W rod journal diameter and width. Our conrods are
6" centre to centre length and we are waiting for a custom made cast
alloy piston to suit our combination for steet use (arriving very soon).
We will offer customers a complete crank, rod, cast piston package
including, rings, bearings, new steel/alloy keyed harmonic balancer and
flywheel assembly. Balance is external like a 400ci Small Block Chev,
Ford 302 etc.
You are welcome to buy only the crank and use whichever rod/piston
assembly you prefer. The crank only is $950.00 U.S and is available from
our distributor in the U.S Marvin Miller Manufacturing in Whittier
California.
They do not have stocks yet but will in the next month or so.

Why would you do this? Does'nt this increase the cost of after-market rods and pistons for a stroker package???
