Ragen,
Good post man.
I have been waiting for this intake for a while now like a lot of people. Overall, I think the number of people who buy FAST intakes are few compared to everyone else out there and I am not knocking the guys that do. I think Weiand has a chance to make a lot of money on a product that would be more widely used that the FAST. The two points here are 1)Actually delivering what they claim 2)Price.
I am afraid this intake is going to be like the Edlebrock intake was on the LT1's. I hope I am wrong. I can appreciate the fact Weiand wants to make a good intake and thats why they are waiting to release it. A lot of people are going to look elsewhere if it takes till the end of the summer.
I mean you can only wait for so long for a chic to put out, then you find another.
I think Weiand maybe showed the intake to soon at SEMA. Given this is where they will the the most exposure, which they have, the product should be on the market in a reasonable amount of time.
I think people get tired of the; it's going to be spring, it's going to be late spring, no it's going to be summer now. I hope by freakin turkey day someone has this intake on their car.
I think they are walking a fine line. People that can afford it will say the hell with it and go FAST. The people who can't will say the hell with and go LS6.
Just my .02
I love this board.

Can't complain about FAST but internal leaks + a backfire at startup = this

Still did not have the time to inspect what caused the backfire yet but it we like a NOS
Explosion

I gained very 12 hp peak with a ported fast over a ls6. ported tb combo. Lost tq down low. Did not run any quicker at the track with the fast then the ls6 with a f13 cam , edelbrock headers and 4.3o gears at the time.
Still have the fast but would not buy it again . maybe a big motor or one that revs no less then 7000 rpms the fast is better.
