I have a M6 C5 Vette and I will be doing a cam install very soon. I dont want to put headers on it just yet. I just want to delete the cats and install the a cam and tune it....... I already have a full catback. What kind of horsepower #'s have you guys seen cam only with minimal supporting mods.

without headers your fighting a losing battle...
do headers, make sure you have an LS6 intake with bigger than stock injectors, buy a cam kit(like a MS4 kit from TSP)kit comes with the cam, pushrods and double valve spring kit and that would be the minimal mods... I never do a cam install without a rollermaster double roller and at least a LS6 pump, but i like the ported TSP LS6 pump.
with those mods look for 400+ wheel horse with tuning...

With stock manifolds, you'd make very solid power with a Thunder Racing CheaTR cam. It gives a nice 40-45 rwhp gain when running manifolds.

Having headers is a whole new ballgame. But how to you want this cam? obnoxious and tempered? very well mannered for street, stealth? How far do you want to rev?

Hey Pred, Not to hijack but same topic... 01 C5 vert. He doesn't want to put headers on it but wants to be a little faster, (his girlfriend has an 04 Cobra). Very well mannered is a requirement. Pretty much stock revs. What would you do?

218/230 .604/.604 116+2 LSA
XFI lobes
Yank the heads, mill a little and run .040 gasket to achieve 8.5>8.7 DCR
Of course tuning and degreing cam a must to achieve max potential.
918 springs (new version)
You end up with very well mannered wolf in sheep skin ready to eat some snake.

but btw.. looking at your sig.. if you want to take everyone in the 1/4 you might want to look into installing a stalled auto and ditch the 6 speed.

I want a good lope and alot of power with street manners. No cam surge at all. That **** gets on my nerves. I like rapping it out but I shouldnt have to to make peak HP. Is there such a thing...... i will be putting headers on it. I will do that this week. I want over 400whp basically cam and headers and tune.

I did not notice before but you had two of the best advisors , patrick g and predator both make suggestions. If you have more plans in the future like headers or heads you need to give all the info possible for the best response.

you can make more power on stock manifolds with a cam. -4 overlap on a fast ramps like the XFI is a pretty good target.
Predator's suggestion is pretty good, but I'd push it a bit bigger if you want "serious" power. With Vette manifolds I'd bet a 218/230 114 113 would make decent torque and have good power to a 6400 rpm shift.
