Angry Helpppp!!!

I finally got to put my car back together after new head gaskets, and teardown and inspection of heads. Car had a dead cylinder so I decided to check it all out, and all was okay. Maybe fuel injectors, or plugs. Bought new ones. Car was hard to start, then when it finally would crank it hesitated and looked and sounded like an old rusty Ford. Spitting, sputtering, and misfiring like crazy. I checked all the wires, hoses, and vacuum lines, but nothing changed. Any helpful ideas?

If the car is a 98(as your name suggests) you may have put one of the sets of coilpacks on backwards. I have seen this happen a few times and it can easily be done.

How exactly could I put one of the coil packs on backwards? They are independent, and can go over any cylinder. I have checked everything, and have pulled the injectors and cleaned. Runs better, but still has hesitation, and sounds like it is missing. I have no codes. I need this fixed once and for all ASAP!!!

I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant the whole row of coils. If they are put on backwards, the firing order will be wrong on that side of the engine.

I already tried testing that and when I cranked the car it backfired and sounded like chitty chitty bang bang.

yeah, that's what it will do. Are you getting an SES light?

I am not getting any kind of code or SES light. It doesn't make any sense to me. I have checked all the wires and hoses at least 6 times since yesterday, and the only thing that made any difference was cleaning the injectors, but it still runs rough.

Can you try swapping a pair of O2 sensors just to rule them out?

I'd say clean the maf sensor. If that doesn't help, switch the o2's out.

u also may have rust or something in ur fuel tank so when the pump is pumping its pumping rust into to injectors. that will stop the injectors up and cause the cylinder to not fire at all. make sure fuel pump in working also.

Possibly connected the injectors wrong, I've seen people cross them and end up with 1 and 3 mixed, for example.

I wish I could afford a new set of O2's, but that is just not possible. Besides wouldn't they set a code if they were bad? Having the rear 2 would probably help out a lot, but with my Pacesetter LT's, gutted cats, and all, I had them deleted. I have a full tank of 93 with @ 5 gallons of 100, so the pump shouldn't be picking up any rust with a full tank. The car ran good before I tore it down, I just had a dead cylinder, and a tick that sounded like a lifter, so I pulled it apart to check it all. Knowing my luck it was probably just a clogged injector and nobody figured that out. Now it just won't idle properly.

wires should be right considering they run in a straight line along the lenght of the fuel rails

is it at all possible that the .040 gap on the NGK's is too much?

If you're not even going to check the stuff people are listing...flip the O2 sensors from side to side, fuel pressure, injector harness connections, coil pack connections...what's the point of asking for help?

The only thing I haven't done was the O2's. I just broke out the Haynes manual and looked at all the wire diagrams for the coils and injectors, and they are correct. I really do need help because this car has to be fixed by the end of the week, but I keep checking the same things over and over again, and none of them are the problem. I am not trying to moan and graon or complain. These forums are the only help I can depend on.

just ran car for @ 2 minutes and got 2 codes, 0307, and 0332. I pulled the wire off the # 7 injector and no change in idle whatsoever. Sounds like a bad connection in the wires somewhere. I just installed brand new Knock sensors so why the low output?
