Don't use Comp R's with stock rockers, between the two get the LS7's. If you want really good ones, get Morels.

How do you obtain the Comp specified lifter preload of 0.002" - 0.004"?

vettenuts, i called comp and they did not really seem to know what they were talking about on that. I spoke to my engine builder, he instructed me to get the lifter on the base circle of the cam, bring it to 0lash then 1/2 turn. Im not really a big fan of this method because i think it leaves alot on the table. Its been working for me for about 1200 miles with no issues.

I have all but given up on Comp, the last few times I have called their tech support I have received stupid answers, some of which could have resulted in engine damage. I find Crane's tech support to be a lot more savvy. But they do state specifically on their catalog page for these lifters that the required hot preload is 0.002" to 0.004" hot and that an adjustable valve train is required.
