You don't have to have the heads reworked for the bigger bore, just make sure the gasket matches the biggest part.. in this case, the bore. You don't want it protruding into the combustion chamber, but people have been using their stock and LS6 ported heads on irn block strokers for a long time.

oh, if you want maximum, then go for the ETP canted valve heads for your 402. Only about 7000 bucks for heads.

l92/l76 setups have been making nice torque numbers def the best bang for the buck. just my opinion and you can always save and move to the ls7 setup later. go with the 408. hell go with the lsx 454 than well talk about torque.

nitrous likes compression, lower compression would only hurt you.

I would check out that procharger and see what kind of deal you can get for it. it wont hurt to at least look into it. i still think the best route would be a 383 forged shortblock, it would work well with the heads you already have and then just throw in some nitrous. If you do go with the procharger stick with smaller cubes. keep in mind you wont be able to just buy the procharger, you'll need a fuel system upgrade. again, 383 with nitrous will leave plently of room in your budget to get a 9inch or dana60

Yea ive decided to either do the 408 stroker or the Procharger..just doing a bit of research. I want to do the 408 because my ls1 has 80k miles on it now. But then again, i think the procharger will produce more power.

Well TSP sells the complete longblock for like 7k so i think i can do it a little cheaper than 10k.

Why do you say bigger cubes? What reasons for it over the procharger?

I like big cubes also. The more you add to anything the more there is to break and be in the way. With cubes there is no belt to slip etc. A well built stoker will make big power. When you get used to that you can spray it. I've never had a F/I car, so take my opinion w/ a grain of salt.
