Default Forged Bottom End

What all does it take to forge the bottom end of your motor? What price range can I expect if I decide to do it?

WTF is a "Gorillaz chip" (in your sig)? Please tell me you didn't buy a chip for your 2000 F body....

Anyway, forged shortblocks with stock cranks can usually be purchased for around $3K from a few different sponsors.

It's basically a 30 dollar resistor, but it's gone now and I was retarded.

I don't want to buy a new block, I want to buy the stuff to forge my block.

My goals are: Dont bend anything, don't crack anything, don't blow anything up.

Heres a bit of advice:

Say you buy a set of rods, pistons, bearings, etc. Then you have the machine work done and maybe the bottom end professionally assembled. You'd be money ahead to buy a pre built short block and sell yours.

I've seen a stock crank, diamond pistons, and forged rods put down nearly 1000hp to the tires. If you are looking in the 700-800hp range on a good tune and race gas, a forged rotating assembly in a stock block will do well.

**** even the eagle rods hold up plenty. unless youre trying to run 7's.

i kept the stock crank(had erik get it polished, etc.) eagle rods, Wiseco pistons, Wiseco rings, coated bearings, ARP main studs.

If I get rods and pistons, do I need anything else supporting?

I'm not looking for big numbers. Highest I'll probably ever go is around 500 HP on an STS kit(until I get money for a rear end). How much am I looking at spending on rods, pistons, and installation?

Only 500 hp? I would leave the stock internals in there at that power level with no worries.

I wouldn't forge the shortblock for 500hp. I would put the money elsewhere to support the FI and put it to the ground.
