Default MS3 cam

Is the MS3 cam (237/242 .603/.609" 112 LSA) a good cam for my mods? This will be a daily driver, but not a long trip driver though. I'll be getting an LS6 intake and ported TB when I do the cam change too.

I am not an expert, but I would say yes. It would probably like the FAST 90 better, and a higher stall. There are quite a few people running that cam in daily drivers. I run the MS4 on a 111LSA and love the curve. From 1500rpm and above, it part throttle drives like the stocker. Gas milage does suck, but then again I had the shop tune it....I am sure they were only concerned with idle and WOT numbers and didn't really do much with optimizing MPG.

w/ those gears and the tq con. it will be a great cam
as far as daily driving thats gonna depend on what you consider good for daily driving'
thats a decent cam for a DD and will need a GOOD! tune.

I know a guy on here with some similar mods' and has put down like 430 RWHP through a 4400, 4.10s, 90/90, and bullets. There may be some additional stuff that I didn't list but that's the jest of it.

I'm no expert, by any means, but I think you may be pretty happy.

You can DD that cam all day with a good tune.

It is all relative. It is a matter of how much you can tolerate. My car bucks and surges a bit and I have a decent tune. You will have to do a lot of logging with the tunning program of your choice to set the drivability how you like it. Do a search to read up on the cam as much as you can. Other than getting the tune spot on it is a great cam. Drivability was not any worse than my previous F13. Good luck.

If I get this cam, my tuner is absolutely stellar. He tunes it on the dyno, and really did a great job doing the last tune when I had the LT's put on. He shouldn't have any problem with the tun if I get the MS3.

WOW! I'd be happy with just mid 11's for now. A buddy of mine just bought a "06 C6 A6 with the paddle shifter, and I just want to keep ahead of him at the track. He thinks he'll do mid 12's on street tires.

With your stall and gears, the MS3 would be an outstanding choice, even in a daily driven application.

As others have said - the tune is where 99% of the driveability will either be perfected or lost completely.

Good luck!

Even with a good dyno tune from a great tuner, what kind of idle quality will the MS3 be like? I don't mind a good lope, and actually would prefer it. If I'm putting down 300RWHP now with the converter unlocked, is 350RWHP possible with my mods and a good tune? I'll be adding a LS6 intake and ported TB with the cam change.

I think you could reach 350 with the converter locked. I was able to with somewhat similar mods'. I know of a couple people who have also in my area.

I run the MS3 on a 113lsa and it lopes hard. The lower the idle is set at, the harder it will lope - have your tuner adjust it for your preference.

I don't think 350RWHP will be a problem at all.

I agree with Joey, I run the ms3 on 113lsa with a 3800-rpm stall converter. With the cam, ported ls6 heads, ls6 intake, and 4.10's I am making 428hp. I can easily daily drive mine with no bucking or surging. Another thing is find a really good tuner, driveability is all in the tune. You should make 350hp no problem, you will love the cam.

I say a little bit bigger on the stall and it would be perfect. But it will still hall *** with the 3500 you already have!

Yeah you will need a bigger stall to get the most out of it. If you stay n/a i would go with 4000, if you spray 3800. I will be spraying 150-shot so I decided on a 3800 stall.

Yeah, 350 rwhp will be no problem at all. A buddy of mine made 392 rwhp on stock heads, and ls6 intake, and 3,500 stall (Dynojet). Since then he's had to install a built trans, 4,500 stall and a crossbrace mounted torque arm.
