Go to Advance Auto parts and buy one. They are $133.98 with a lifetime warranty and they are usually located right down the road. I wouldn't even screw with the almighty EBAY. You can type dog **** in your search box and I'm sure one of the results will come back and say Find dog **** on EBAY. And alot of people I know have bought stuff off of EBAY that was suppose to be brand new. They wound up with a bunch of **** too!

sounds like they didn't buy from a reputable seller... I buy off of there all the time and do my research first, and haven't gotten screwed yet...

I looked into it when i thought my water pump or block had cracked. When I searched around, I could not find any of those prices but for that price, an electric is best.
(P.S. a water hose had just gone bad at the end)

I think that your mechanic is trying to make a little extra $ off of you to make up for the Thanksgiving holiday! As others have said waterpumps are cheap. They are also easy to change out too. All you need is a driveway, some basic tools, new pump and gaskets and coolant. It's a snap, and you save the hassle of your mechanic working you over on the price.

As an installer we ONLY use genuine GM parts, the cheapest wp you can get from ebay new right now comes to around $200 with shipping. We have the best luck with GM parts, its more expensive, but cheaper in the long run.

Another option is to buy the part and bring it to your mechanic.

That's what they told me too. I gotta buy one soon, mines leaking a little.

Do they come with new gaskets? I have a 160 stat and the coolant is only a few months old so I'm not gonna change them.

Bought mine brand new from Pepboys for $150 with lifetime warranty & it came with the good thick OEM style w/orange o-ring gaskets. I hate the newer thin metal black o-ring gaskets.
