Default Ticking coming from Engine bay?

Hey everybody! I just bought a 2002 Camaro Z28 that has 68,000 miles on it and I noticed that this engine is fairly noisy! I did a search and saw that a lot of people are also having the issues, but mostly just that the car is just built like that.

Just so it is known, I just did an oil change on the car and the new oil has 14 miles on it. I used Mobil 1 5W30 Extended Performance motor oil and a extended guard 3506. I know now that using 5W30 Mobil 1 with a Fram filter was probably a bad choice, but if I were to switch oil, would it help my noise out? When I start the car when its cold, I tend to notice the noise the most. When I up the RPM's and also while the car is at operating temperature, the noise goes away and when I am at idle the noise is just barely noticable and only if you know what you are listening for.

This is my first LS1 car. My last car was a 1995 Camaro Z28 with 137,000 miles on it and I never noticed it being this noisy. I was also told by my friend's dad, that the LS1 fuel injectors make a bit of noise once they get some miles on them.

Sorry, for writing so much on the subject, but I am just nervous about my baby! I just bought her and I love the car to death, obviously being only 20 years old and this being my fourth Camaro! lol Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Rob

The ls1 engine is noisy, it's even worse with an aftermarket cam. It sounds like a sewing machine then.

Alright, thanks guys! I had the car scheduled for an appointment to have it checked out, but I think I will just cancel that. As far as power, the car seems to drive seamless. No problems at all other than getting used to the LS1 sewing machine!

Use some German Castrol 0w30 should take care of that ticking noise!

I've tried several oils.. if you're high milage, try Royal Purple XPR 10w40 for 1 interval and see how the noise changes.

do you have anything done exhaust wise? the noise from the engine is normal but if its noticeably loud then goes away maybe exhaust leak... maybe. thats what mine does, makes the tickin seem a little worse than it actually is.
