Default 500 RWHP Built LS1?

How many of you guys have used forged pistons, hbeam rods, and big cam with ported heads and achieved 500+rwhp? Im tring to figure the combo out I need to meet that goal. Now before you start in on me, I know that this is hard to achieve...however, I have researched into going with bigger cubes but I dont want an Iron block and I cant afford any bigger aluminum blocks. And Its not so much money of the block as it is the harness adapters and everything else that goes into swapping out an ls1 for ls2,3,or7. So having said that after the research and the fact that I already have good heads for the build, An LS1 factory crank build is going to be done. My goal is to hit at least 475rwhp I'd like 500 but ill be happy if its close. So Id like input from those of you with similar setups to the one I described at the top and achieved these power levels.

yeah this is the same thing but he's crazy write-up. This man knows his stuff and this engine makes a solid 500 rwhp without a crazy peaky cam.

No matter which way you decide to go on the top end, we can defiantly take care of all of your short block machining and long block assembly needs. If you send in your block we can make it like new with a CNC square deck if needed, hone cylinders to size, and align hone the mains. If the cranked needs to be turned or just polished we can take care of that as well. If you would like me to put a detailed quote together shoot me a PM with your email address and I can get one over to ya!

more cubes...alum block...no harness changes...

how bout a 382ci short block? i know VRE and TSP both make some.

would be a nice boost in performance, for minimal effort. i think they range from $3500 to $5000 depending on parts.

there are quite a few guys running decent sized cams, GOOD heads (afr or tfs) with ported FAST intakes and making 475-500rwhp.

Kreast did it with the futral F15 cam, milled Dart 225s, and the nonported (i think) FAST....through a vette drivetrain.

his cam is similar to mine his is 238/242 615/610lift 112lsa and mine is 239/242 .649/.609 with a 111lsa so that probably wont change. And the shortblock he used is almost the same setup im going to use. As far as the heads...he is running the AFR's and im running a set of prc heads that I hand ported and Polished after I bought them. And Im going to use a F.A.S.T. 90/90, but im going true duels. So It sounds like I have the recipe for 500. however I was wanting the torque to be about the same...How do I achieve that?

Thanks for the offer. However I get my parts machined by a local machine shop here in Arlington TX.

His exhaust setup is better than true duals.

His exhaust setup is still better... not that true duals aren't good.. but you should get a parallel merge X-pipe instead of the crappy ones that crash the gases together.

Make it REALLY big, go with 13-1 compression, and a set of heads worked over by someone like Greg Good or Larry Meaux..

lol DONAIMIAN, you've got me thinking 550 is possible.

lol, I'm talking about a street car. I know ill end up driving it to class every day once everything is finally done. My cam isn't even all that big, and the compression will be around 11.75.

I was looking at that package myself, it's very nice. I just didn't want to shift at 7200 and the maintenance that comes with that Just my preference.

Really? I did not know that changing oil every 3000miles was such a hassle, seeing as how that is the only maintenance I have performed on the car in the 2 years since this set-up has been installed. Maybe that is because I only shift at 7000rpm.
