Default Head ported... does this look right?

Looking at intake.... is this safe and reliable? Looks like a whole lot was taken off when I compare to my stock head....

I am in the middle of installing and noticed how aggressive the port SEEMED to me....

Just need to know if I stop or keep going... this IS a daily driver.

Thanks!

pull the valves and measure the bowl area, the transition from the bowl to the valve job is very important, along with the short side radius. But from what i can tell from the pic, the guide area looks good.

These heads were ported about 5 years ago at Morgan Motor Sports. Been sitting in a sealed container ever since.....

Hmmmm, not sure if I feel comfortable pulling valves

at first it sounded like you ported them but if there done by a good shop they should be fine. You can always take them back in to get checked out

I've seen porting expose the valve guides before. Yours looks a little more than usual, though - who did the porting?

Morgan Motor sports has been in the LS1 game from the beginning. I would have them flowed just to satisfy any questions. Very hard to tell from pic. It looks like the valve guide gets bigger toward the bottom. I've never seen that. Flow them, have spring pressures checked. If it's all good, run em.

I have a similar question. I was wondering which sponsor the OP or I could send the heads to and have them cleaned up or flowed?

Thanks ALL for your replies. These responses, plus some on Corvette Forum, plus a local guy who ports, give me the 'warm and fuzzies' to continue....

I'll find out, tomorrow, how it does Finishing it in the morning.

Thanks!

I've not seen very good anything from MMS. Check out the link below and right on the front page should be "MMS stage 2 head vs TEA stage 1" and this was back in the day when tuning was scarce and combos were still being perfected.

I understand the flow might not be that great and that's fine. My real concern was whether the port job looked too aggressive to function without disintegrating. I've never seen anything else, so I had nothing to compare it to.

Bang for the buck? I am sure I got robbed, but it's what I've got and I am not spending any money unless I MUST.

Thanks! And if they do break down, I am going with AFR cuz they're new shop is about 15 minutes from me.
