Default 98 block vs 99 block

I've heard that the 98 blocks aren't that good, and the newer one's are better.... But i have a 98 block on the ground, and a 99 in my car... I want to know is the 98 worth putting my forged stuff in and the new heads, or just wait and use the 99 block...

Build the 98 block and don't loose sleep over it,they are good blocks, keep your 99 block for future bigger mods.

thanks sounds good, 1 more question will the 317 heads bolt up to a ls1 block... i have a set of 5.3's but later i want to add a procharger instead of the high compression and i know the 317's lower it but i'm not sure if they will work on that motor...

They bolt up but the difference in the bores 3.9 vs 4.0 in the combustion chamber.I would contact the company you bought your 5.3 heads from and see what they say, they may be able to mod the 5.3's for ya,or you might find a set of used ls6 stage 1 or better for a decent price.Goin' fast ain't cheap.

no i already have the 5.3 and i'm going to run them but they are milled and my compression should be around 11.5:1 with them, but i want to lower the compression with a different set of heads...
