Default Yet another "help me chose my cam" thread

ok fellas, heres what im working with...

Bone stock 04 GTO with a M6. The car is my daily driver, mostly hwy.

ive narrowed it down to the following cams...

TSP 233/239 .595"/.603"

TSP Torquer v2 232/234 .595"/.598"

Futural F14 232/234 /.598/.598

or maybe the same cam i had in my 00 SS...
Comp XER 226/232 .588/.596 this cam took to the spray pretty nice. i got 119rwhp and 173rwtq using a TNT wet kit jetted for 100 hp.

supporting mods (installed with cam) are as followed.

Kooks 1 3/4" LTs
Catted Mid Pipes (still debating on wether or not to go catless)
StolenFox H-Pipe
Cut-Outs
SLP UD Pulley
LPE CAI
GMM Ripshifter + Lou's Short Stick

sometime shortly afterwords (as quick as i can get some more $$$) ill be installing the following.

PRC LS6 2.5 heads
FAST 90/90 setup
TNT F1 wet kit (100hp jetted)
Racetronix Fuel Delivery kit

so what are your thoughts gentlemen?

any guesses on rwhp or trap speed?

i know ill need a stronger clutch at some point in time, but im going to replace it when it goes. most likely with a LS7 or SPEC 3. but thats another poll for another day.

Between all the cams you posted to choose from I would go Futral F14 cam but I am parcial to Futrals stuff because I run the F13 cam from him. But all the cams you posted have had good results but if I didnt go with Futrals cam then I would go with the Torquer V2 would be the next choice. and for the clutch the SPEC 3 is the only way to go, I love mine, I can pull rubber in 4th gear but I dont know much about the LS7 clutch. Good Luck on you decision.

i think you'll get similar results cam only, and with heads on the first three choices...and only slightly less with the 4th.

all would be good.

my choice would be the torquer or the F14

figure 400rwhp cam only, and 450rwhp with the heads and FAST

Whats the F14 specs again? I'd go with the V2 but can't remember where the F14 lies and to lazy to look it up, lol

LMAO, scroll up bro. F14 is just a hair bigger than the Tv2 with a .003 on the intake lift. im not sure what kind of grind the F14 is on either, but the Tv2 is a Comp XER grind.

Thats is funny, I rememebr I scrolled down really fast to the bottom. Should have read slower I guess, lol. I figured the F14 was close to the V2. In that case I say go either. Why not get a custom one if you are worried about from Patrick G? I think he'd reccommend something along those lines but with more lift but you can't go wrong with either.

You're basically splitting hairs w/ the first 3, all will produce very similar results. If your gonna spray go with the 226/232. I'd recommend the Spec 3+ over the Spec 3, I've had both and the 3+ is much smoother engaging w/ a bit stiffer pedal being the only downside.

The f14 is on a futral lobe. Cam motion grinds the cam, but Allan created his lobes. I had the f14 in my z06 and it was a great cam gor the street. it behaved well and I managed 408 ft lbs of tq cam only with it.

As for your clutch I would stay away from the spec 3 on the street unless u like replacing clutches every year. I managed about 18k out of mine and when it dies it goes quick.
