Thinking about buying used cam... I'm leery

I was figuring shipping, which was why I said that's a tough call. What I missed was that you were looking at used LS6 heads, and saying they were prepared in the manner that you would have ordered 5.3 heads.

Sounds like a good deal as long as the guides aren't shot & the valves seal up well.

EDIT - and the cam photo's look good!

I wonder why so many people are putting in ms4 cams into their cars that they daily drive...good power can be made from cams with much less duration and lift...

I'm not daily driving it. It pretty much sits in the garage and I take it out on the weekends sometimes and take it to the track every once in a while.

I never said it was a daily driver.

Also, are you going to SIU Carbondale? I live out in Carterville and am in the automotive program.

I would only buy a used cam if allowed to inspect and measure it first. Normal wear on modern roller cams really isn't even an issue anymore. The real issues are abuse damage and intentional wrong parts. If the used cam looks good and measures correctly, enjoy your savings.
